Guide: How to get a Wico grommet smooth

Don't know if this is of any interest but it sure was for me so I thought I'd share this. If you need a new grommet for your Robotron or Smash TV joystick you basically have no other choice but to buy the ones that are available. And these are not the original smooth ones but the universal ones that were also used in the microswitch joysticks from Wico. They will work in a leaf joystick too but they're stiff as a board and it's a real pita to play longer than 15 minutes. So here's a way to get these stiff grommets smooth like butter.

Put a 1,5 or 2 mm drill in your Dremel and drill some holes into the round hollow of your grommet. With 8 holes you can already feel the grommet gets a little smoother:

With 16 holes it gets noticeably smoother:

And with 24 holes it feels like a true smooth grommet like the ones used in Robotron
