how reliable are pins?
will a new pin last like 10 years without failing?

i want a pin but i’m like dreading it developing faults..
like cabs have there issues

if a new g n r pin ( great national railway - not!!)
will play faultless for 10 years and keep you happy do it!

Well, one thing I do know from owning 13 pins over the years is I'll never spend the amount of money on repairs that I have for my cabs. I've spent nearly 1k on repairs, recapping etc on my cabs in the last 2 years.

Even my first pin Fish tales only needed a few coils, coil sleeves in the 2 years I owned it.

In my admittedly short experience with pins, they do require more ongoing maintenance, but being mechanical, much of it is smaller service items.
One of the great things about pins, is the amount of new repro boards etc available. With cabs much of the time your replacing a broken board with another of the same age and crossing your fingers.

Buying a new pin at 10k is a waste of money I’m my eyes unless
You are going to play it to death.
The bios quality on stern pins is shocking as all you see if people complaining that things break, no grease in sealed motors, playfields just falling apart.
Again just my opinion but in 5 years they will devalue like all things.
Still plenty of good williams games about 30 years later. These stern ones will all be scrapped in 20 years as they won’t last due to cheap manufacture.

If you want one and can afford it go for it.

I’m getting miserable on my old age and am starting to sell some games to pay off the mortgage.
