Made me furious when I heard about this. Its been closed for a few years now, I think anything like Arcade cabs had been removed since they padlocked it up to stop people going on, the council had only just managed to get it back from the owners. Great great shame, I am a member of the National Piers Society, really pisses me off that all the slow bureaucracy and red tape effectively consigns our heritage to the bin. (as already seen with the west pier in Brighton). Chances are it could have been an insurance job. bah!
