Hi All
I’m a software developer based in Reading. I used to do electronics as a hobby and am getting back into it having recently fixed a Nintendo Space Fever cocktail table for a family member. I succeeded thanks to this excellent forum so, having bought a Taito Space Invaders table as a project, I thought I’d come out of the shadows and join the discussion.
Cheers, Dave

I’m in Wycombe, not too far. I’ve helped a mate in Twyford get his first cabs.

If you collect cabs or pins, there’s an 80% chance you are a software developer! 🤣

Welcome ….Dave … Lots of folk on here follow other members projects to assist in their own challenges… so expect your project SI will interest them if you write up your progress as seen in other restoration topics. It’s a key to making the forum popular even if only for curiosity? 😜 views on that intro tt photo will indicate just how curious !!!!! ( 3 already not counting ‘read only’ passive interest today , like me😁) it looks a prime contender for cosmetic , brain & heart surgery?
Good luck with it !

Welcome, I'm in Oxford, not far. I've restored a few Taitos now. Any help or advice needed just ask. If I can I will.
Many thanks! I do have a first question: I was expecting three boards on the left of the cabinet, but there are only two (with no mounting frame) and the top one has a “daughter” board with the ROMs on it. Is this a standard configuration or has it been hacked? The person that sold it said it had been playable prior to being stored, so I’m hoping it’s not missing a board!

Many thanks. Can you tell me where I should post my log? although I’m a novice, I was also thinking of posting a few lessons learned from the Space Fever fix too.

This is a good question... Some thing that baffles me. I believe. Notice I say I believe... This is a part 2 board set. I know there are more experts on this forum (as they have helped me in the past) will confirm.

That's a Galaxian bootleg board but it may be playing any one of a number of games that were hacked to run on that hardware

Just read a few forum topics in ‘ fix logs’ or ‘restoration showcase’. Etc and see if what your project entails fits the possible reader appeal in that section? You can take your time and pictures save many words and add interest

Each time you need post an update on progress seek out the topic title (make a note of what you title it) and once a topic thread is added it bumps it back into the ‘new posts’ page for a short time so others are aware it’s had fresh content…

Best to steer it off the ‘new users, ‘ or ‘general discussion’ as that sometimes gets lots of fresh content if events etc take place . Open a fresh title in the section you decide - occasionally if a topic fits better in an alternative slot the moderators of the forum may notice and move it to a more relevant section? That may depend on how many replies the topic generates so save comments on progress to keep it of interest to all those who follow your progress…

Many thanks - that’s very good to know. So I have a full set of boards, but the game’s been changed? My plan is to get it working as-is (may have bitten off more than I can chew!) then consider if it can be returned to original game/spec. Will post a repair log as I go!
