Yes, sadly I remember in the late 80's reading in a local news paper in Cornwall about an engineer who died repairing a vector game ( they mentioned these had very high voltages)

It was heart attack related, so maybe as a knock on from the CRT shock.
Yeah, I always understood the danger was in the shock crossing your heart and stopping it. I'm not risking it. One hand in pocket when discharging.

This is why I can't be bothered half the time, so last year I started buying some secondary windows A to reduce noise from Neighbours B see if it helps keep warm in

Only buying second hand units so it's cheap project and so far I've only spent about £400 and only need 2 more for last 2 upstairs windows. having to cut them down to refit, I've mananged to trim the glass down for a few so far but I got some huge ones as my bedroom windows are massive, probably close to 3/4 of the wall size, had to change from 2 panel to 3 panel to fit windows I have so you don't notice them when fitted, glass was toughened so nothing I can do but dispose of, need to get some 4mm polycarbonate ones cut for the 6 panels but the rubber U channel seal to fit over edge and fit in frame is 10mm height, 7mm wide and take 4mm glass which seems to be difficult to find, plenty places selling but not correct sizes and if they have prices are a joke on ebay and many small businesses, they want like £3-6 a meter so you spend like £75-£150 for rubber then they polycarbonate as well end up costing a fortune so the job never gets finished. The other windows I did were okay as I used the original rubber but these are Everest ones and rubber is just falling to bits so needs replacing

Can get rubber edging for car cheap but not what I need, gonna be expensive if you buy something that don't fit and many don't say thickness of the rubber, then measuring up for replacement windows, if I get that wrong it's either expensive mistake if too small or probably hours of trimming it down if too big, measured up the inside of frame but then need to add more on for recess into frame, some measure 8cm, some 9 and even 10cm but with new rubber I'm thinking 8cm max then hopefully won't be too big, getting a price from local guy for them, just need this rubber sorted

Then self adhiseve rubber draft proffer to the face edge ..
With magnetic door catches two each side .. with metal plate for the magnet
Glued to the Perspex with a good clear
Sticks like you know what

So i have forced myself in there today , only done a few bits but progress all the same.

Looked at a MVS cart with audio issues (never done any carts before) , thought i would remove the audio cpu as it was the most likely one to be faulty. Pulled it and tested and it failed on 3 pins ( is a 1024 so a replacement would be a 27c1001 ) , i was excited. Burned another and popped it in .............. no change at all !!!, I mean come on i need some luck in the world !!

I will revisit this and test i am reading the mask roms correctly. Cant see how i could not be though.

My dad made wood frames with perspex in to cover over his Sash Windows, just push in and small thumb screws to fix, takes out in spring

Got a shock the other day when looking at prices 4mm 140 x 90cm sheets, £75 each and need 6  don't know if that's with or without VAT as most were quoting £89
Just won some sheets to do 3 of them for £30 :D so that brings cost down massive

Glad to see that things are at least picking up a little bit ... AND in the middle of 'S.A.D.' times, too ... it's a positive thing, no matter how 'baby' you might feel the steps are. :)

For the mojo!

I am building the test bench up …

I have now raised half funds for the Aaron Slice ..
Added a digital scope
Laptop and programmer now on the bench so I can actually use it in the moment instead of planing another bloody day to get it out the draw !!!

Found! EPROM eraser !
Don’t ever move twice in one year in this hobby !! It’s a health hazard!

then it will be the desolder gun .. and I will at long last be ready to swap a ram from one field to another. O argh combine harvester . 🤣👍

Firstly good to be planning ahead …. Something I wish I had done 40 years ago but operating in several locations we dedicated different jobs to each …. But ….

…. Here at home it never got established how I dreamt !! Not least moving more than once ….. nah … when this hobby takes route you get so swamped in the clutter you can never ever move again … prisoner to the “invaders”

Good luck … reading your recent posts it looks like with the help of other collector/ restorers etc on here and their useful advice you could soon get the hang of doing odd fixes?

I had a combine harvester in the 70s for real and to be honest it didn’t help with the hobby but I did have lots more sheds when I was a farm manager….

Changinging to full time amusements by 1984 we moved out of the farm (3 farms sold off by boss) and made our one move to here….

The one thing I did wrong was a fair size workshop but in farm tradition as I had done many times … sleeper uprights , spars and corrugated tin roof … ouch needs bitumen painting every few years and when it’s frosty the sun comes out and it’s nice outside …… but ……

Inside it pours with rain as frozen condensation melts. !!!!!!! It’s a learn my mistakes obviously ! Major lesson but it’s ok with insulation over 90% but clear roof panels needed for light is the rain issue 😡

The relaxing of sounds of heavy rain, gently tapping the tin roof. Or better yet, hailstones :)

Blimey, trying to buy some U Channel Rubber has been a challenge, now I've got this other window which is same Everest, this has good rubber seal so I could properly measure it, rubber is 2mm Thick, so with 4mm glass it's 8mm total and metal frame is 7.5mm gap so it's good tight fit. Couldn't find anything same size and most if for 4mm glass only 1.4mm thick so less than 7mm total

Again I had to think another solution so thought can I get 2mm Rubber thats similar width as original flattened out, 1.5mm less with 25mm will do and yeah should work this, fold it over edge and tap the frame on

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373396396391 3x 10m rolls under £28 and that will do 6 windows which is far cheaper than anything U Channel

So I turned this which was few cm wider than I need and much taller, the top slider was biggest so used side profiles from that on bottom for mine so i can cut down slightly to get it same height as crossbar below opening window

One of the original Siding panels Frame Cuts not even level so sorted that out, I set my old Chop Saw up with Set Square both ways to make sure they are straight for 90 and 45 degrees, glad I bought this set up 3 Bahco Squares, all I had before was old one my day gave me which was worn now and not square lol

I'm very sorry to hear that.

I guess any other things to focus on help keep you sane. And I was quite motivated at the time.

As eliotcole says, there is a general lull in motivation in this miserable time we're in, and it's hard to be hopeful for the future when we're bombarded with so many stupid reasons to be enemies by engagement farmers. I really need to cut down on time online. I'm easily triggered into debate but most of it is a waste of brainwaves.

Ohhhh, I know that one.

That was my lounge at one point while I wasn't at home. My eldest was living among that. 😬

Sorry. I should split off my crap to another thread. May help motivate me.
Looks like my front room, but at least mine are cocktails. 14 of them, all working though.

I'm only here to offer technical advice if I can to deflect my thoughts from the coming storm. It seems a time for insurmountable problems.

Leaning on a metal bench with the right hand, touching mains with the left. That was fun. Also had to fix the shower a couple of times whilst being in it and wet. Cover off, mains exposed, at least I had a good screwdriver. Living on the edge! Finding me dead and naked in the shower would have been fun for someone.
