Having trouble pulling the trigger so to speak.

I've been on Arcade world and ultimarc and have priced up the parts for the control panel

ultimarc comes in at £112, and Arcade world at £84 for what looks like the same kit.

But what I want to know is what do I really need for a two player set-up?

I have Downloaded MAME and have also got Emulators for the NES SNES Mega Drive PSX etc.

I know I'll need the 2 joys but how many buttons do you need for this kinda set-up?

Also do you need to configure each Emulator to the control panel? Or do they just see the I-PAC2 and know what's there from it?

You need, 1up, 2up & 1 credit, 2 credit (double as start & select) and then 6 buttons per player to accommodate for Street fighter games, that's all! If you are buying an i-pac etc you hold down P1 start and it acts as a shift key, so that and P1 credit for example will send an ESC command.

You can get emulators preset to MAME button layouts, but it's not hard to redefine controls within the emulators, you will need to edit he emulators via ini/commandline to quit completely rather than quit to menu.

Thanks ZedEx

I'll just order the kit with 8 buttons per player that way I'll have spares for when someone breaks something when I eh they get beet.

As you can see it doesn't have any buttons, the control panel has is only 3 inch deep where the player 1 and 2 buttons go. Would the standard happ style fit?

Also does anyone know how to open the locks with the keys? as there is something rattling about in the coin box but I don't have a key for it.

Hmm, being a Naomi cab you really want to be buying the right controls (Sanwa/Seimitsu), the coin box is a case of getting op combo keys, drilling, or using a dremil to cut a small hole on the side if the internal box so you can get to the nut on the back of it to unscrew the locking arm.

3 inch? More like 3mm.

Hi ZedEx

I'll have a look for Sanwa/Seimitsu stuff.

The 3" thing that I was saying is from the top of the panel to the top of the the inside of the housing of the control panel box.

Well I pulled out the computer that I was going to use for this and it's a no go. 2 of the ram sticks have failed and I forgot that it was an AMD system and sounds like a wind machine.

So I'm going to have to have a look into something else, I have a brand new still boxed Intel P4 3GHZ 775 processor and I think a gig or 2 of DDR2 RAM. I also have a ATI Radion 9800 128mb card.

Would this be ok to run MAME?

What OS would be best to use?

Also do I need something to use this with the Naomi New Net City Monitor?

Have now built the computer for this cab, have installed MicroXp copied over all the roms emu's and have installed a front end.

Where do you get the screenshots from? I have the list of games there but just with a photo of the system eg the SNES

Thanks ZedEx only seem to have the snaps for MAME and NeoGeo.

Need NES, SNES, Megadrive, master system, game boy adv and the 2600

Wish who ever put the rom set together had put the images with them.

Connecting up the PC to the cab, and the picture is all over the place.

Do I need to run that soft15khz?

The cab has the Naomi CRT VGA monitor.

Also have now got my I-PAC2 and on it there is a coin in for player 1 and 2, do I need a button for each or would 1 do?

I changed to my old TV and poked it, reconnected it the the cab started in VGA mode reset the settings reboot and now I have a screen.

Now to start the wiring up of the buttons and joys, but will 1 coin up button work for two players?
