Hello everyone!

I've recently become interested in 3D printing and would like to try building my own. I've heard that stepper motors are key components for precise control. Do you have any suggestions for choosing a stepper motor? I found a website, https://www.skysmotor.co.uk, that offers a variety of stepper motors; would you recommend buying from there? Also, what other important components should I be aware of when building a 3D printer? Looking forward to your sharing and suggestions! Thank you!

I would say don't build your own unless you just like building stuff, if you want quality fast prints with ease of use buy a Bambu or Prusa, (Prusa sell kits). I built my own printer over 15 years ago when all you could buy was a kit, it was a great experience especially as my son helped me. I now have a Bambu printer, wow what a difference. It's a bit like building your own car it's fun but the finished product won't be in my opinion as good as what you can buy prebuilt.

I would personally buy one like an Ender 3 (maybe get one of market place or fleabay) and then undertake the never ending upgrades available, from silent driver boards, OctoPi to run it, camera to monitor prints,, auto bed levelling and a purpose built enclosure to mention just a few.

Dads mates Bambu one was pretty cheap and the stuff my dads shown me from it looks brilliant, can't see it would be worth building one when there so cheap to buy that produce great items
