I have a snes cart which has been badly damaged, not sure how but there is a broken component on the board labeled X1.

On a working cart this is labelled as 7600A, anybody know what it is?

I ahbe attached a photo, it's the rectangular light blue one with a red dot on top.

Yep, looks to be a 3 pin ceramic resonator which funhouse pointed out. The game is super mario kart, not having much luck finding a replacement component and the only other games that I have seen to share the same PCB style are still a bit pricey just to rob them of that one component.

Anybody know if it's possible to use a 2 pin crystal and bodge on the extra capacitors?

Flux Capacitor

However the fact it says X1 next to it does suggest that the ideas above are probably correct.

IMHO and my 2p worth... Resonators/Crystals rarely fail.

Is that component 3 pin or 2 pin have you looked to see how many solder points on the board it has first?, if only 2 then a metal 7.6MHz crystal will be easier to source.

That's a pain, may have to see if anyone else requires components from mouser to get over the required minimum order, found a UK source for 2 pin version but not 3 pin version...sorry

Just a quick update, I put a 7.6MHz crystal in place of the resonator and added a 22pF ceramic capacitor between each side and ground. Pleased to say it's fixed and after an hour or testing seems to play perfectly fine. Thanks again to everyone for all the help and advice.PXL_20230516_220716340~2.jpg
