Sound was intermittent. Amp section active, pot ok, activity on z80, sound ram looked fine,swapped the ym2151 (was ok), swapped the 3014 dac (was ok)... something in the control logic? no schems (rtype very similar but different) so poked around until I found a ls367 at IC4 that failed on the comparator (i dont really know if my comparator is working properly but nm). Anyway ls367s seem to fail regularly so I swapped it out and sound returned.

. very pretty game although a little repetetive (it's only got 512k of tiles and 512k of sprites) gameplay similar to raiden/early toaplan IE tanks/ships/planes fire fast bullets aimed right at you so you need to keep moving, losing your powerups is hard to recover from.
