I'm glad to hear the instructor recovered, but what about the yoke?!

Think this is all for tonight.

Nice score there Tim,keep at dude, the more you play the easier it will get, like what's been said before, keep on going for the 'Hard' deathstar option (wave 5 start).

If you want set it to 9 maximum shields 3 shields bonus and 'easiest' play setting and that will give you a little more of an advantage until you feel like taking it to the next level

Cheers Russ. It's been set at 9/+3/easy for a while now

. Just my learner wheels for a while

.

The towers on wave 6 are so close and fast at the end, but I know the patterns for all of 5 and the start of 6 now. Pushed out all the French and Russian I knew, but this is useful!

Another day of practice awaits tomorrow.

Getting better - I have positions #2 and #3 now and am into wave 7. Can reliably get Force bonus on wave 5 losing a shield or so, and almost got Force on wave 6 but had to shoot cos it was either hit a walkway or fireball and I had no shields remaining. I'm pretty sure I whooped out loud when I saw my first level 7 trench with a full height, half width yellow catwalk. Shame I wiped out on the second walkway

The above screenie was yesterday's efforts. Today I got to level 7 and halfway through the trench. I'm gonna have to hack the game code and add a level skip so I can just replay the trench over and over otherwise I'll never get enough time on trench 7 onwards, ir at least for a long time. The vertical walkways are just mental and the holes I have to aim for are impossible :) I think I need to promote putting my new balanced-spring yoke up the job list too - I think it's affecting my scores by complicating the aiming.

I now own 2/3rds of the top three including the coveted #1 spot

. Thanks to everyone who's given me advice and tips and encouragement! I'm aiming to get a half hour of gaming minimum every day as I can already see the benefits from practicing - I know where the TIEs are going to be! First game ever that I've put this level of concerted effort into.

Regarding pattern learning: I recognise the TIE patterns, and I'm starting to see that wave 7 is basically an earlier wave with the inclusion of an additional simultaneous TIE, so I'm hoping I can start recognising each TIEs pattern to avoid learning unique patterns for each wave. Sounds right experts?

But the Towers don't seem so clear. The tower layout changes between waves, but as I fly into the level and earlier chunks of towers reappear, they seem to be shifted horizontally. Is there an algorithm or rule of thumb for this? I normally veer right after the first triple and then keep edging right until the unshot left-side towers repeat in the middle of the screen. Is this basically how it works?

So to finish, tonight's screenie.

Nice one Tim your getting there dude

....Once you get to no the pattern of the towers its easy enough to clear them for the fifty grand bonus (can't remember how many differant patterns of towers there is off the top of my head) but once you've learn't them its easier (its only the 32 pattern set I cannot get everytime time for some reason...there b@stards I tell thee

Great thread Tim - Star Wars cockpits are so iconic

.

Makes me wonder how many are still around today? Last one I saw on-site was at Funland in Hayling Island a few years ago.

I'd be amazed if any are left 'in the wild' so to speak, must be only a handful in collectors hands?

The SW cockpit in Funland is still there and working on original hardware (sans Amp and a WG6100 fitted). It's only down the road from me.

Quick handful of goes this aft. I can get Force on wave 5 & 6 but I completely get my ass handed to me as soon as I bit the trench in 7. Off to watch Russ's vids a bit more I think :)

On the plus side I'm normally wiping out the TIEs on 5&6 and getting a few slaps on Vader instead if just trying to kill fireballs and survive.

But first I've got to find and remove the spider I've been sharing my cockpit with. Caused me to miss the last tower on my most recent run by climbing over my face. Eww.trm2013-06-04 18:34:18
