Jamma Pi Thingy looping

Hello All,

I’m not sure why – but when I use a JPAC (Set to 15khz) with my Pi 3b, in conjunction with chunskins Pi Jamma Thingy image, on my atomiswave tri-sync, the pi gets stuck in a loop. It keeps displaying the PI JAMMA THINGY loading screen.

When I use it on a normal LCD, everything seems fine.

I have been running jamma pin 3 at 5.25v could this be a factor?

Cheers,

CF

Was hoping someone with a bit more knowledge might have come up with the answer to this one for you as I'd be interested to know what's going on myself.

Could you temporarily disable any power pins at the edge connector, just put some electric tape over the contacts perhaps? See if that makes a difference.

That's really odd, the only time I've known that happen is when you choose the attract mode setting to automatically launch the last played game and then choose the reboot option - that ends up in an endless reboot cycle

Sounds like a plan - I'll give it a crack!

Isnt that for the rgb-pi?

With Pi thingy isn’t the 15khz mode selectable in the options comfig menu..

I’m just wondering if your attract mode
Is in 31khz and the pi Thingy isn’t going into attract

Just to confirm you are running the pi jamma thingy image in 31khz on your LCD? or 15Khz on LCD or a different image on LCD?

Hi Chunskin, I'm using whatever the default is. It does look to be Hi-res on my LCD (TV) though - is there a way to set to15khz in the image menu then? I only have 15khz set on the jPAC using the bridge connector. I hope this makes sense.

Yeh that’a most likely your issue.

Jpac does not change the res.
In screen options menu select 15khz mode,

you’ve set the jumpers as if you are in 15khz That will cause screen flicking

Yeh sorry it’s not called screen options

It will say something like
select 15khz mode
Unfortunately I don't get anything like that come up on the menu. Is it possible that the pi image has recognised that its being used on an LCD and adjusts resolution accordingly?
