I'm looking to pickup an arcade that is currently connected to a pandora box. Id like to swap out the pandora and mostly use my mister to play on or sometimes a playstation or maybe even a switch. What would I need to do to connect existing buttons and sticks to the mister. For video id probably just hdmi direct to monitor. Really not sure what I should be looking at for this. Thanks!

You can get a usb joystick board. They are cheap and are hard wired. PCs recognise them as game controllers so mister should do the same thing. Of course they will need to be configured in your emulators

Thanks. Do you mean things like brook fighting board? I've used those before but ideally I was looking for something where I can just take the full loom out here and then plug it in and I wasn't sure if something like that existed. I always find the wiring so fiddly

Its more like a cheap ipac controller. You can get them with those cheap arcade / pandora kits on ebay.
Not sure if a jamma to PC adapter has been developed. Normally ends up being a custom made loom

I know the ones you mean, thanks. Might have to give those a go, I was hoping there might just be some sort of pull that loom out and connect to something then usb. Wishful thinking!

You can get pretty cheap Mister to Jamma converters on Aliexpress.

Cabinet looks like its one of the cheaper Chewlix versions with the fixed monitor surround and hinged control panel.

I'll have a look at those and see how I go. Think that might be the way to go, although mistercade looks pretty easy, just pricey

MiSTercade is popular or there are cheaper alternatives such as the mentioned Aliexpress one or Invzim's (his username here) Jamma-Expander. These options have been around for a few years.

Invzim moved to Malaysia a year ago and is yet to reopen the shop. I have an extra Jamma Exapander that I don't need if you are interested (I bought a quick couple before he closed).

Have a look around for opinions. I have both the above linked kits. The impression I get is that MiSTercade is rich in connectivity and the compact design process was a labour of love. I better understood the price once I received mine.

Whereas the Jamma-Expander is more no-nonsense, simple to setup and has some handy arcade-focused features that can be controlled on the PCB itself with the little switches and OLED screen. User-lock (which blocks UI shortcuts), a switch between keyboard or joystick mapping, and a few UI navigation buttons to avoid plugging a keyboard in when performing updates. It also allows for dual ram.

I personally think MiSTercade has the multipurpose edge if you are going to use the system outside of your cabinet, and Jamma-Expander has the edge if you're going to leave it in. I have no experience with the Aliexpress ones.

The Mistercade2 Arcade that Kingtreelo linked does look very interesting. It integrates the DE10 nano clone with Cyclone FPGA onto a Jamma PCB. It does mean that you're spending on a whole additional Mister system rather than adapting the one you have but at the price that doesn't seem so bad.

I use an Ultimarc J-Pac-C control only, and then route the video / sound via HDMI.

After some messing around with the Mister config file, and changing the controller mode to X input - it detects as 2 separate controllers and works flawlessly with my 6 button jamma cab.

It is important to switch modes on the controller and edit the mister file otherwise it is detected like a USB keyboard and only allows player 1. Also enable fast USB polling on Mister.

Mister conversion on the right.

I have also used the J-Pac with a Batocera PC and the result is very good. Cost effective way to have a decent jamma Mister set up!
