looks quiet...

Hi

For the first time in my adult life (post divorce and all that) I'm now in a position to have an arcade collection. I spent (or should that be mis-spent) too many summer holidays in arcades.

I figured ukvac would be a good place to start to find out a bit more..
Our ideal I guess would be a dual joystick Jamma set-up with a PC for Mame.
There's always a few on ebay - lots of half finished projects and people flying kites on iffy looking cocktails, but no boards - either complete machines (at very high prices) or MDF home-builts with cheap PC boards in them,

I've taken a look at the forums and it all looks a little quiet though :-(
Tough times leave little time for hobbies and interests - but anyone still around?

Hi Rebecca, welcome to the mad world of arcade collecting.

A Jamma set-up is certainly a good starting point, simply because it gives you so many choices. Not least a MAME set-up. Though you will find the purists who point out it's not the same as the original hardware.

You'll find that a lot of vacers have families and can not quite spend the amount of time we used to on it. But we are very much still around. And from time to time there are meets.

What do you class as "My Games"?

Hi & welcome

You may find, in the next few weeks, this place might get a bit busier

Hiya. As Andy says ukvac.com is coming out of a temporary deep freeze and has just about lost most of the icicles that were hanging on :)

Post back with the sort of games you're after and your general location and I'm pretty sure somebody will hook you up with a suitable cab pretty quickly. And then you can find your holy grail and spend your spare evenings sanding, touching up artwork and generally making the games room that your teenage self would have killed for.

Hey moderator, shouldn't you be out on the streets with a sandwich board strapped on showing the site URL and attracting us some business?
