So what do we all think? On the positive side Disney have immediately said they'll release new Star Wars films (first one in 2015). On the negative, have Disney got the "right stuff" to make a decent Star Wars film?

What's your thoughts?

The jury is still out for me.

The good news for me is George Lucas won't be writing or directing the new movies. He made a total hash of the last three. I had my Star Wars tinted glases on when they were first released and loved them. That soon wore off over the following months.

Star Wars was precious. Like a rare cab. Now they're gonna churn out another three. Following that, another movie every two to three years. I fear it's gonna be too watered down.

There'll probably be a TV series on the Disney Chanel too.

Maybe they'll end up like a Jerry Bruckheimer "Pirates" movie?

Dear Lord.

I think my jury have just made their decision....

I think it's a shame Disney wasn't involved for the prequels. Im at a loss as to what the new films will be about.

Yoda's dead, so is the emperor, Vader, Obi Wan, Luke was supposedly the last Jedi and the empire is finished. So why call it episode VII?

I've no doubt Lucas taking a step back is a good thing and Disney seem to be a logical choice to oversee things from here on, I'm just curious where the story will go since ROTJ wrapped things up so well.

I remember reading at the time of the prequel trilogy that lucas originally planned 9 movies, with the first 6 now made. Theres potential for good films, I'd like to see Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher involved, unlikely but this this is pipe-dreaming eh.

Im still pissed off with the franchise for the avalanche of sh*te that was the prequel trilogy, and the endless f**king around with the original trilogy (special editions

). But as Bond has proved, you can have a rocky franchise and still come out with the goods. Get a decent director on board and it could be a return to form.

But will probably just be more sh*te

Disney's handling of the Marvel franchise suggests this might not be all bad.

We might see a remastered original trilogy on blu-ray (no CGI, no terrible moment where Han "walks" over Jabba's tail, no Haydn Christiansen standing at the end looking awkward, etc). But, Neck-Beard is going to remain as a creative consultant, so I won't hold my breath on that.

Also, I think another trilogy and a further film every 2 years ad infinitum will just cheapen the franchise even further. I know it brings new fans in with each generation, but why can't Lucas (and Spielberg with Indiana Jones!) leave films/franchises alone and try something new?
