A much missed cab from my past is APB. I had a nice one a few years back, (now residing at Arcade Club) but it was simply too deep to fit properly in to my garage at the time so had to sit side on which took up the space of 3 cabs so I had to let it go.
Was an unhappy day.

But then one was spotted on the recent Manc raid and fortunately for me no-one else had claimed it, so I said 'yes please!' without hesitation.

It was very dirty, and of course completely untested and unknown. I could see the monitor and pcb's were inside at least so was worth a punt.

I had a good look over it, disconnected the pcb and plugged it in not hoping for very much.
It didn't disappoint and was absolutely dead.

'Probably just a fuse' so the popular eBay phrase goes....well it turns out it was the next best thing!

A quick wiggle of the monitor power lead, check of the voltages and I gave it a full test...

Result! Couldn't believe it, fully working. No marquee lights though, and the flashing lights on these almost never work, but another wiggle in the back of the marquee power wiring and they were working too!

Decided I couldn't stop there so gave it a proper clean up so I could put it in my row of cabs. Some of it was pretty rusty like this wheel, and there was a lot of bird poop etc. covering it.

After a good session with Henry, T-Cut, Novus, Windowlene, Mr. Sheen and Magic Erasers it came up pretty well

Wow, what a result.

What products/processes did you use on the steering wheel. The result looks amazing.

Another top cab for your collection!

No seat with it, I did have one with the last cab I had though. It's a game that's well suited to playing standing up though so no great loss.

The T-cut was used to clean up the wheel. You use some fine furniture grade wire wool with it and gently rub over the rusty areas and it will remove all of the surface stuff.
Clean it off with a clean rag, then buff with a tiny bit more t-cut and it comes up nicely as you can see.

Love easy repairs like that

I remember basil showing me the machine when it was at his place, was one of his favourite games and he was telling me how much fun it is to play

I can well imagine the guys who made the original Grand Theft Auto game took a lot of inspiration from this. The map is nice and big and you can drive around as you like earning upgrades for your car and so on. It's certainly a game with lots of replay value.

Looks ace! I also wondered what you used the t-cut for - cleaned up the wheel wonderfully.

As your captain in the game would say "mumble mumble mumble. Well done!"
