Quick one...

Looking about, 3/4" T-Molding appears to be the norm. According to google 3/4" = 19.05mm

SO, is 18mm MDF OK and what I need to suit this T-Molding, or do I need a different combination??

I want to make something similar to an X-Arcade stick but not with so many buttons, sticks and balls it could control the space station.

Thanks,

Martin.

If it were me, I would not have any of the edge showing. Either iit's completely flush or a millimetre over.
Where your hands rest whilst playing will start to look rough in no time.

It fits fine, I have not noticed the t-molding being too big for the MDF.

That said I don't think 18mm MDF is exactly 18mm, and I doubt the 3/4" t-molding is exactly 3/4".

You could always cut the slot slightly off centre so that any t-molding overhang would be at the bottom of the panel, rather than at the top. Or just trim any excess with a sharp knife. It's pretty negligible anyway.

This is all largely immaterial now since I did it at the weekend!

To be honest, as was pointed out somewhere up above, the reality was that the MDF wasn't exactly 18mm anyway so it doesn't look like there's any kind of problem. I've not fitted the T-Molding yet as I've not decided whether I'm going to get a custom CPO made up, or whether thats overkill and I should just spray it.

Also I'm still working on the 'box' part of the control panel. That's causing me, as a non woodworker some real headaches because of all the funky angles. I really should have literally just made it a box!!!

Hi
Im a joiner and use t molding a lot at work for counter tops .

If you use laminated 18mm mdf it will increase the thickness and fit the t molding bang on,

Another tip try to avoid trimming the edge of the t moulding with a Stanley knife as it will look sh*te ,especially on brighter colors.

Hope this helps
