Hi all! Funny how this group comes to life once in a while:)

I have an Accutron ;-)

About 25 Medway Galaxian PCB’s

6 Williams Defender Sets!

…and 100 allsorted…

All in my loft… one day I will do something with them.

Err, yup. Got 500+ LED's from 72 onwards, split with LCD, dynamic
scatterings, chronographs, F300 hz, jump hours, and Accutrons.

Just can't resist 70's stuff from my yoof.

Must be something psychologically linked to arcade collecting too .

Well seeing I don't have the space for full size cabs I thought this
would go nice with my mini Galaxian. I bought it in Japan in a second
hand game store for 5 pounds ;)

The Watch is a 1971 original Seiko (also small so easier to collect).

Talking of which, anyone here collect 80's electronic watches?

Covered before I know but if I have a cab that worked last time I switched
it on and it was months/years ago I thoroughly warm it up with a heater of
some sort before powering it up (ie warmed through to a moderate ambient
temperature rather than five minutes on super heat) -especially do this if
it's been somewhere cold or damp. You'd be surprised how much more
'reliable' that makes them.

Hi All

Nice to see such a big response, took 40 minutes of
work time to get thru them all!!! Shame!!!

All my machines normally get a good run at the
weekends and the wife still complains that they take
up to much room. Looking into buying a log cabin for
the back garden, fully insulate it and heat it then
moving my collection out of the house (could be the
worst decision of my life but it'll give me a bit more
room for more machines and gets me away from the wife
:) ).

Only change is that my son spends all weekend playing
the machines, normally one or two break down and I
spend all weekend trying to work out whats gone
wrong!!!

This weekend the spinner went on my Tron and My
Afterburner screen seems to have lost blue when it
starts up so have a nice pink screen until its played
for about an hour and then the blue decides to join
in!!! Any Ideas?????

Cheers

My sons 10 and he enjoys playing my Galaxian and Space
invaders as its pretty straight forward what to do ...
not like playing the likes of Tomb Raider on the
xbox360 where you might have to move a rock while
getting Lara to scratch her arse while pressing "X"
"Z" "A" "A" "B" in combination to open a secret
door!!!!!

Nothing wrong with smashing the hell out of a fire
button and just killing things :)

Cheers

I still got my collection!

But unfortunately it is all in my parents garage. I had to move to
Guildford and have a top floor apartment.. lots of stairs + not enough
room for machines = free storage at my folks :D

Everynow and then I get back there, dust them off and give them all a
go. (the machines, not my parents). All in working order except
starblade which is in pieces so it fits in the garage.

Hope to get a new place soon... with a garage or game room :)

Good to hear your kids play them. I've heard some of my friends kids
saying stuff like "So you don't complete it...You just play until you
die. What's the point in that."

Of course I'm going to ensure my 18th month old grows proper

If you're around enough to look into printing that side-art for me which
we discussed ages ago, do let me know. I still haven't got around to
finding anyone else to do it.

Too right !.

If it takes more than 10 seconds to get into the action, then I can't be bothered.

And, what is so great about completing a game anyway ?, surely the enjoyment should be in playing it. I still have great fun playing games like ghosts 'n' goblins and bubble bobble, I don't really care that I never get anywhere near completing them.

Cliff.

Yup! Works better with friends over, too... where's the fun in several
people gathering round a machine to watch someone else sitting through 5
minutes of narrative, 2 seconds of play and then back to more story. Much
more fun to be switching the player every few minutes, or sooner in some
cases.

I agree, Mame has its uses...but how about those xxx in 1 pcb's ? Thanks to all these UKVAC emails, I can't think of anything but games the last days! (what have I done the last 1,5 year?!?)....and so I bought myself a 48-in-1 pcb with the old vertical classics today. I have absolutely no idea if these pcb's are any good, but I am thinking of putting a cab in the office at work and it sounds great to plug in 1 pcb and still have a lot of games :) I hope the emulation is good (good enough for the office probably). Anybody has experience with these pcb's? Oh well, I guess I will find out soon when I receive it...

I still miss some names of the guys I personally met here in Holland (Rav....Oll...Guddler (Martin White)...Pobster (Paul Maddern), Andy Welburn)

I'll start the ball rolling.....

All my s1*te is still spread out across a laughably small cottage + outhouse
+ garage in Dorking along with my collection of 'classic' cars. I'm
working in central Brighton for an ISP and prices here are currently so
high it's hard to find anywhere with parking let alone a garage -anyone
interested pooling resources and renting down here!? - I can supply the
contents for a games room :) I do tend to go back to Dorking at alternate
weekends to check the collection of tatt out. I (think) the last cab I
bought was a Gyruss that was some 6-12 months back.
