The story so far: I got two Missile Storm cabs from the ship, the plan is to make one really good one to keep, and one that works (as far as possible) to go to another home. When I got them one monitor had been necked which is a great shame as the ship cabs had no or little burn from what I've seen.

Pictures of them so far are here:

I've stripped both machines so they can be cleaned out and properly assessed, status of the unbroken screen is unknown - the EMI shields on them were so rusty they were dropping particles into the chassis, so that's all had to come apart too. Interesting to note they had different coin doors, and the bezel/marquee art is slightly different on both despite them being otherwise identical.

I've now rebuilt both power supplies - the caps were bulging and weeping and all the rectifier diodes were heavily corroded, one of them had a shorted line filter too which. Both supplies now have all new diodes, caps and line filters and both are putting out close to identical voltages (within 0.1).

Current job is cleaning up all the 'keeper' parts and sorting out the trackballs, both of which were so corroded at the bearings that they've seized. Shafts are not too bad (irreplaceable probably - might look into having some machined), bearings were a standard size so I ordered some last night.

It's incorrectly named as 'Missile Combat (Sidam bootleg)' - the ROMs on both my PCBs are a perfect match on that set. Yes, Missile Command clone.

And then a panel was finished... There's some slight paint lift and minor bubbling along the very edges at the top-side and around the trackball - nothing that can be done about that though without getting the art vectored for stencils and repainting the whole thing. We're talking about 1mm of lift in the worst areas and about 2mm small bubbles - you won't see them when it's fitted.

Also going to have to get new trackball rollers made - as I exercised them one of the rollers chipped to form a flat spot, old metal. I'll take it to local engineering companies and find one who can make a copy or six.

Another bit finished, getting there slowly... The coin reject trim insides were just solid rust, had to get brutal on them to clean them out. The cab is also cleaned now and t-mold polished, with metal trim removed and polished, would add a photo but it won't stop raining.

The PSU is also installed in the cab now with a nice new mains cable, the remaining intact screen was dismantled, metal shield sanded/rustproofed/primered and the whole thing cleaned and re-assembled, I'm basically ready to go on testing the screen and PCBs as soon as the weather allows.

Currently working on the coin door hardware and trim, having to repaint the chute trim.

So, is this the first Duke cab to be restored? Finally put it all together today - bezel rides about 5mm higher than it should, felt like it would tear in the 'correct' place and looks fine anyway - maybe I'll revisit that when I have an extra pair of hands to hold it in place properly, the glass is a real bitch to fit. Coin door lamps do need replacing, they're in the post and I was impatient about posting these pics up :)

Link, which one did you restore? :)

A lot of the machines will come up nicely I think. The other Missile Storm could look nearly as good as this one with some effort, I'm trying to get the PCB on that one running before I offer it for sale.

That's really nice. Really really nice.

I can see that it's running the Sidam PCB too. Bonus cities set at 6000 points. Pretty sure Atari Missile Command only went as low as 8000, so that's interesting. Only space for 5 high scores, so presume this is based on a hack of Atari MC ROM set 1. Do you know if there are any differences in game play?
