This is tbr2005's sound board. I have a few of my own (which isn't a secret). The power terminals had briefly been put on the wrong way around while the power was on in the cabinet. Board was unresponsive but still had the red light on.

I was going to trade the non-worker for one of my mine and a trade fee. I didn't know how damaged it would be, but wanted to see if I could get it going.

The amp is one of the first things connected to the power terminals. Gently rubbing over the contacts generated no distortion in the audio output so I knew the amp was definitely gone. I wasn't going to do anything with it for a while but after sitting here for about a week and with everything out from another job, I decided to see what would happen if I removed the amp. First job, was to replace the amp and then see if there was anything else.

I'll be removing this amp out and replacing it with one of my spares.

The amp is prone to heating and cooling which doesn't do the solder joints any favours. They are difficult to de-solder, particularly on those wide power traces, but removed the dead one and replace it.

In the process though I either managed to scratch or melt some lacquer off one of the traces, sorry fellah my bad and couldn't be helped.

It's a very small scratch but it has annoyed me that I managed to do it.

Anyway, put the board back in the test rig and 'BONG!' one working soundboard. I missed the post yesterday (I don't trust Royal Mail prices here) so I'll be sending it by Collect Plus later today.

Enjoy the game once again.
