So I got myself a new killer pc, first new pc in 10years. It should be able to play all the modern games. Trouble is, being a new machine has no disk drive. Worse still, modern games don't seem to come on disk anymore either.
SO? Well my problem is my interband service is upto 3mbps (no not 30..just 3.) I live in the sticks miles from an exchange..

If you are me, how you going to get Forza Horizon 4, it's a 76gb.

Could I get someone with a proper connection download it into a ssd for me, it'd maybe take them an hour, an I could put the ssd in my machine and install it? I have spare ssd's if anyone can help?

I fancy some other games too, not sure what yet (does Red Dead 2 come on pc?).

Any ideas?

I Want to setup my pc here but we only get around 3/4mb in this street.. I gave up on the ps4 as the updates kept saying 100+ hours so i thought steam downloads might be the same?
Annoying when my parents is around the corner and they can get virgina quickest fiber :(

I used to live on a farm, they still have no useable internet as it is too far from any main road. I got a telephone sim from 3 with unlimited 4G data and bought a Huwaei router that accepted an antenna. I used a caravan antenna on the side of the farm building and ran it into the Huwaei router. Bingo, 60mb Internet.

Mmm, sounds feasible. I'll need to look into this. Thanks

Yeah, if you're lucky and can at least get a good mobile phone signal, that's a good way to go. It's easy to set up a smartphone with tethering to create a hotspot you can connect your PC to via wifi. Chances are you're phone signal is crap too though, if you're out in the sticks. I live in a small village with a crap signal, unless I go out into the street! I can at least get fibre broadband at an astonishing 35Mbps! Wow!

Forza is DRM'd up the whazoo so you would need to download it with your xbox live account etc and it might even lock it to the machine, so i'm not sure you can get someone else to download it.

MS Flight sim 2020 is a stunning game and you can get it on a physical release for PC, it comes on 10xDVD's lol

At the time nothing else was possible. I needed any kind of internet for work so explored every option and this proved the best route. I was surprised how solid the signal was and the range of the caravan antenna, which was about £60ish on ebay I think. I had issues with tethering at the time, although don't imagine that's an issue now, this was about 3-4 years ago. Good luck. Escape-to-882020-08-23 00:28:39

Forza ain't happening as it doesn't get installed like a normal game, goes in MS own dirs that you have to fanny around with taking ownership etc and is UWP so not a generic exe either.

sorted; this is a common problem it seems with a few modern options to resolve it. EE and 3 both do mobile 4g routers but they don’t cover my area. Virgin do a 4/5g mobile router with unlimited for £50 a month.
I just ordered and will now bin the 3mb BT package with the landline too, no need for that anymore - we all have unlimited mobile phone deals anyway, wtf do we need a landline for now today anyway - to take calls about that accident we had?

Should now be getting 49mb minimum according to the sales woman, so even if she is only 10% correct we are still nearly double than what we had.

I recently bought a a gaming PC that has no DVD drive. This is the norm, now. If DVD is ever needed, a USB drive can be picked up off amazon/ebay for a few quid, so it's no big deal TBH.

Yes I live in a small village around outskirts of Bristol and Bath, and the government had a drive to put faster cable in for businesses and residential, into villages. I pay so much then they make it up to superfast :). That is goverment funded and lasts a year.

Its about £54 p/m at present, but the big bonus for me is the phoneline works all the time. I must have had BT round at least ten times to still not fix their line being faulty !

I dont use the speed to be honest. But if anyone wants and roms or stuff uploaded it wont take long !

Wow, look at that, I have never heard of such speeds.

We just received our Vodafone GigaCube yesterday. We were promised a minimum of 49mb..guess what.,, right now its around 7mb, last night I saw it went to 23mb.. still, thats far better than the 3mb from BT.

Voda told us to keep it for a week, report back and cancel or re-negotiate on the service cost. I think we'll keep it but they not getting 50sovs a month for 7mb-23mb...thats for sure.

Find out the direction of your nearest mast and get it in a window facing that.

This makes me feel really guilty about what I recently upgraded to. This is on the BT Fibre to the Premesis 900mbit service. I am getting faster than expected downloads, but uploads are about half what they should be for some reason.
