hi all hope all is safe and well. iam wondering if anyone can show me how to wire a isolation transformer to a hantarex mtc 9000 14" monitor? its the brown, red, orange, yellow wires that need connecting to give it power. the other end is small green plug that goes to chassis. picture would be better to explain as don't really understand voltages. any help would be great as been stuck on this for sometime now. transformer is kindrace kl8010. many thanx.

Pins 1 & 2 require the L & N from the isolation transformer 128VAC or 120VAC in the case of the Kindrace

Pins 3 & 4 require L & N from mains supply 230VAC

Earth the metalwork of the monitor too

because I am a tech dinosaur I only have a kodak c195 I use for most pics as my phone doesn't transfer pictures (have to depend on wife's iPhone for most things)

you need save picture to your pc or laptop ………..

WHAT I DO to get pics on here//// select my picture from 'this computer' picture library

right click select open with then select PAINT at the top user bar when your picture presets to the screen seek out and click resize

then in the drop box menu I alter 100% to 20% or similar press ok and then select FILE, drops to select save as.. I rename the photo usually just add an R or other letter and OK then close PAINT you should have two versions of the picture saved ,, one original and one resized

then when I have the reply/topic box on UKVAC I select the tree from the expandable top bar on the box...………….. browse photo files ,,,,,,,,,,,, select my resize jpeg *******R resized Upload and preview just to check all the picture is in ,,,,,,,,,,,, and press OK and sometimes I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE UPLOAD TWICE? if it occasionally says error inserting or something ? (always goes ok second time ) BUT sometimes i just make them smaller say 15% to start with............. THAT WORKS FOR ME and I DONT DO COMPUTERS ABOVE THE NECESSARY daily stuff emails / forums / ref google / news etc

MAYBE MOST PEOPLE ON HERE HAVE A SIMPLE METHOD but that works for me and i only use it when i really want add a picture....... I think its mainl down to the storage size of Kb / Mb your picture is at to start with? ,,,,,,,,,,, i think that summarises it ? maybe someone has a quicker method ? it only takes about 2 mins if you do it my way and as i say i don't use a modern phone i can't send or receive photos just 'store' them... but its a hardy thing resistant to screen damage when carrying buckets (20-25kgs) of 2p coins in both arms and rubbing pockets with rims... deadly to 'open screen' phones

I use my PC not a phone/tablet etc. MS Paint is great for resizing images and its very easy...just edit pic & click resize and save...done

Edit : same as Norman (69er) above

I need to know if this right or miles off.

it sounds like you have the plug and loom and its not fitted to the stepdown transformer … ?

the yellow and orange fasten to the 240 - 0v ac on one side of the transformer .ie below the coil . its not too critical which way round they connect as AC 'alternates + - +- +- ….. transformers only also output AC voltages

the brown and red go to the opposite side of the transformer ie above the coil and still need to go on the 0v and 128v as this is the approx. size of voltage expected again does not matter which way round but some people like the 0v to correspond with the return side of the chassis pins and the 128 wire to link with the FUSED PIN on the chassis...…(orange)……..

having wires attached to 128v and 120v will NOT give you the output for the monitor ONE MUST BE ON 0v same side as 128v

brown to monitor red to monitor

picture in letters ___ _____ ____ (nearly did them wrong way ! myself )

0v 120v 128v

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ coils

body of transformer

L ____ _____ ____

earth a screw

from mains wire green/y ov 220v 240v

Blue mains & Brown mains &

yellow to monitor orange to monitor

just adding the green 4 pin plug to the monitor should only fit comfortably one way around ..

if you look at the underside of the chassis you can see the centre two of the four pins go via fuses

the 240v ones yellow orange go only a short distance to the degauss plug a small green two pin nearby THAT REQUIRES MAINS 240v ac and does not need transforming so just by-passes from the mains volts input side of the stepdown transformer (the wrapped coil around the glass screen tube plugs in there with a two pin plug and gets 240 v fed to it when you first turn on... no need explain further on that yet!)

reading back here it was close.... brown just needs go to 0v same side as 120/128 as I can interpret ?

and just in case?.........…. the yellow 0v same side as the input 240v mains see picture (sort of) above

referring mainly to the monitor issue ………….

LET ME TELL YOU ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, NO ''DUMB ASS'' EVER ASKED FOR HELP WHEN NEEDED ...ITS TOUGH IF YOU DONT KNOW …………… always better to ask than be laid there with frizzy smoking hair like the real DUMB ASS ………AND ELECTRIC IS INVISIBLE …..and dangerous to those who don't ask !!!

I have met some arcadia machine owners and odd members on here who have never wired a mains plug correctly or possess correct size screwdrivers or pliers etc. think everthing takes a 13Amp fuse (irrespective of its power requirement then being way over-rated) work with frayed and damaged mains cables and SO OFTEN SEEN long extension leads still almost fully wound.. then wonder why they get HOT ( remember what a bar electric fire filament looked like ?--- a wound wire on a rod --- ) and rarely possess a simple multi meter to check voltages and fuse continuity etc EVEN IF its only the easy to use functions.. I should re- do the 'basic use of multi meter' thread I did on another forum it had thousands of views and well appreciated …

I went to a house once where there was two under five year old running round (a jammaplus member not sure about here) and he had a set up in the lounge with a powered up fully exposed CRT monitor just about balanced on a stool and wired to a keyboard/ control panel in a chair about 8 foot away with numerous wires running across the floor UNBELIEVABLE !

THE CLEVER GUY IS THE ONE WHO ASKS … no embarrassment here all been in same place once?

nice diagram 69r, anyway got it wired up and nothing blew! but no life either when first powered it on it made high pitch squeal like seized wheels turning is only way to describe it also no neckglow no static all voltages from power supply are correct, but monitor now doesent even make squeal. anyone have a easy way to test something to see the area problem might be? once again guys your all very helpful and iam very greatful to you all.
