So is there a prize for least immaculate/original game that still plays??

If so then here is my entry.

No cabinet, just bare boards on a plastic baseboard, perched on top of Williams transformer/PSU.

I'd repaired the board using an LCD TV that had a SCART input, so there's a hacked SCART cable out of the board already. But I don't like the look on LCD monitors, a nice old fashioned CRT would be better methinks...

Thanks to the shop the girlfriend works in for throwing out a broken 21" Sanyo CCTV monitor, I took it off their hands and found a faulty line output transistor and managed to get it going. Problem is that it's PAL/NTSC input only, but there is a circuit layout on the board for SCART input, so RGB in does exist in there somewhere. A bit of poking and working out how to flick it to switch into RGB input mode and here is the result when Stargate was plugged in! Yay!

Lovely CRT picture complete with poor edge convergence, blooming, smeared phosphor look, etc. Oh and screen burn marks of a pair of shop front doors...

One problem is that the vertical height is too high, and there are no trimmer pots to bring it down (new fangled settings-stored-in-EEPROM monitor). Seems like I need a remote control to put it in service mode and then use on-screen menus to adjust. Problem is I don't have a remote so not sure how I'll fix that yet.

Hmmm, wonder if I can make a cabinet out of corrugated cardboard boxes and gaffa tape....

haha Cool! - what´s the function of the paintbrush??

Monitor had been hung in shop ceiling for some years, so you can imagine how much dust and fluff was in there. So that's my special dust paintbrush used along with Henry the Hoover, also used for nightclub lighting that always has similar amounts of crap inside.
