Hello All,

Just got a mr do from ebay. Marked as untested - and as expected it is
a bit dodge!

Problem is that there is no forground sprites. All background is there
just no mr do or gremlins etc...

I had a quick look at the board, and it looks 100% with no visable marks
of missuse all tracks have been checked ok - however there seems to be a
missing componet @ the bottom of the board (J10). Is this supposed to
be there? If not then I will look into other problems, if it is can
someone come to my rescue with either a replacement chip or maybe a duff
board that I can salvage parts from. The chip is seated so there is no
problem removing it.

If no-one has a replacement can anyone point me in the right direction?
the schematics call this chip 288.

Matt,

The chip you mention sounds like one of the character PROMs so it is
likely that this is the problem. An equivalent is the 82S123 but you'll have
to get it programmed with the correct image. BTW, Does anyone have all four
PROM images ?

Yeah I think you are right. Blast from the past has this error in the
problems log.

82S123 PROM @ 10J faulty. Re-blow a new PROM fixes the problem.

Seems as well 10j is actually missing I would think that this what is
going on.

Don't suppose anyone can supply/blow a replacement chip ??

There should be a PROM in there and funnily enough without it you'll get no characters. If you can supply the PROM then i can blow you one. Or if you have a PROM programmer then i can send you the data.
