Thank you for engaging and for being so open with the project
@multisystem
I appreciate you won’t want to be negative about the MiSTercade but perhaps you could give me an idea if I would get any improvements over a MiSTercade 1.1 with your system?
Sure, we have gone down the all-in-one design, so we can be in control of design and product approvals, MiSTer compatibility and also allow for future expansion.
Our CTRLDock Arcade onboard firmware will be open for community improvements and adding more functionality for specific Arcade controls and cabs etc.
We have added more Direct FPGA I/O for doing both imputs and outputs - like control of Chase HQ flashing lights and rumble motors in OutRun (for example).
Keeping full MiSTer compatibility is very important for us, it's the driving force behind the MiSTer project and we don't want to fork it or take over in any way, but we do want to keep on pushing things forwards with expansion I/O and extensions so we can continue to make more interesting hardware as time goes on.
We have big plans for more Arcade systems and hardware, we run an Arcade museum here so we know how difficult it is to keep machines in top condition.
I'm not really going to compare us against another product, they all have great reasons for existing, A modular system can be good for some things and we have a number of options for the DE10-nano original or clones / alternatives.
We spent a lot of time trying to get the original DE10-nano module approved (EMC/ EMI / FCC and emissions etc.) the DE10-nano cannot meet EMC approval in our experience, It's a development platform for FPGA evaluation. The only way we can get a product that can meet global EMC/FCC standards was to design it ourselves in order to be able to ship it worldwide.
After that, we have just designed what we believe the Arcade community will want, but are always fully open to ideas, improvements and more products.
