Yes, it's called Out Run Enhanced Edition v1.1.0 and is part of the Sega Enhanced package. No hardware modification is required for high score saving on Out Run.
Get the package from the Reassembler blogspot site.

Some Months back my housemate sent me a gumtree link to an outrun mini near me for £350 (think it was mentioned on here) and I stupidly said "Nah, I ain't going to spend that kind of money"
How naive I was, now on cab 4 and rising, should have grabbed that while I could

Congratulations on finally getting one - you must be made up! It looks like a lovely example too
Oh, and anyone who thinks they have to say 'over the road', you don't - 'Jamma+' (or any variation thereof) isn't a banned word; if you are referring to it then feel free to say the name - nobody on here is going to burn you at the stake*

Would love one when (insert cash/space/lotterywin/etc). It's loads better than that Space Harrier sh*te imo....
