Hi all,
Thought I would post this little story about a recent ebay auction...
I'll try to write it with the thoughts that went through my head....
We've
all had auctions cancelled because "they lost it" or "it has broke when
I dropped it" so the seller can try for more... Also the packaging,
will it arrive ok?
Anyway here is the story....
I was
wandering round ebay USA looking for cheap pcbs as we all do and
wondered if there was a cheap Rolling Thunder pcb going. When I searched
a result came back saying "Rough Ranger," now I'm sure you're thinking
the same as me at this point and it was someone trying to sell porn
through ebay
So I googled it....
http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9370
It only exists and looks to be a complete Rolling Thunder rip off from the guys that did "Ultra Balloon"!!!!
The auction had no bits with about 12 hours left iirc so I chucked a cheeky low bid on it...
Well this happened...
Well me being the ebay sceptic I am I straight away thought the auction will get cancelled so I paid straight away
Obviously there was postage on top of it but I've hidden that bit as we
all know we don't take that bit into account (if I do sell the pcb it
won't be 60p btw
)
Then
I noticed the 3 dreaded words.... Global Shipping Programme... now
we've all heard the horror stories about that.... removed packaging,
etc...
As I had paid I thought feck it and will deal with whatever arrives if anything actually does...
A few days passed with nothing, no message to say it had gone faulty so they wouldn't send it, etc nothing....
Then
all of a sudden some tracking appeared! OMG they have posted it!!! then
my mind went into overload... have they just posted an empty box? Have
they replaced the pcb with a "Hatris" one...
Then my thoughts went back to the Global Shipping Programme.... wtf is going to arrive....
Anyway that was a couple of weeks ago so fast forward to today!
A knock at the door... "Sign here" then a parcel was passed to me....
The box is clearly fecked!!! Also not much packaging in there as it rattled...
So what was in there....
A pcb in bubble wrap... How much bubble wrap I hear you ask....
This much...
Onto checking the pcb over....
Looks ok spotted a damaged cap but nothing that is major as it looks like a smoothing cap.
Also wtf is in this bad boy
Anyway I went and plugged it in and was greeted with.....
Could this pcb be the new Footy Champ!
It survived the shipping, it was also sent! (Good feedback is going to be left for the seller
)
Anyway time for a go on it and if anyone is interested on how much of a Rolling Thunder rip of it is....
Not a rip off of Rolling Thunder at all.....
