*UPDATE JUNE 2015*
Another year has gone by since I updated this list and of course many more cabs have come and gone in that time so thought I'd do an update which I've added to the bottom of this post.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I really can't believe quite how many cabs I've owned in 4 years. This hobby really is like a drug!
I compiled this list on Jamma+ last year so thought I'd bring it a little more up to date as there's plenty more been added since then
A few I didn't keep very long, sometimes the thrill of the chase was more fun than actually owning them - but I know quite a few of us have been there
So here's the list, with a good few pics, starting back with my very first cab...
JUL 10
Neo Geo Lordsvale MVS - First Cab, First Restoration, Came out like new. Wish I'd kept it.
Subsequently bought it back, then sold it again!
AUG 10
LS Sound 25-29 Candy - First Candy, Sold on to IDChappy which makes me to blame for the size of his candy cab collection now I guess
SEP 10
Taitel
Bomb Jack - Interesting dedicated Bomb Jack, had been left outside for
years, when it was brought in to the warm and dry it promptly fell to
pieces. Ended up being killed by Aran's cab hammer.
NOV 10
Midway Pac-Man - Needed a lot of work, beyond what I could cope with at the time. Sold to a forum member.
DEC 10
AMR Jamma Cab - Mint Jamma cab, I set my first Bubble Bobble record on this. Sold to a forum member.
MAR 11
Electrocoin
Midi #1 - Gallery - Sold on to an art gallery and painted by a graffiti
artist 'Mr. Penfold' - pic from the exhibition below!
JUN 11
Play-a-coin Jamma - Was to be a Bubble Bobble dedicated but I gave up and sold it on to a member.
JUL 11
Egret II Candy - In my office. Added some NOS parts since this photo, almost perfect now and gets played almost daily.
AUG 11
S.C.I. #1 - Lovely condition cab, fixed up, played loads, and sold on.
SEP 11
Silverstar Deluxe Jamma - Quick fix and out as I was converting my garage.
OCT 11
Mercury Jamma - Minty cab, went off and started a collection of these for a forum member.
DEC 11
Crazy
Taxi - Beautiful condition cab, replaced all the missing artwork, was
really nice. Sold on so I could accommodate a full sit down driver.
JAN 12
Zaccaria Pac and Paint - I loved the cab but not the game, fully restored to near mint and now with another member. Was seen at Revival very recently!
JAN 12
Juno First - Rare cab here and an absolutely superb game, I played it to death and got bored with it, so went to RGP.
FEB 12
Alca
Galaga - Very cute and very rare cabaret, I did loads and loads of work
on this, and made use of the skills of a lot of guys on here to help me
fix it up, now with another member.
MAR 12
Chequered Flag - Near mint full size upright, played loads, got bored, sold on.
APR 12
Electrocoin Midi #2 - Totally original cab, in near mint condition, sold on.
MAY 12
Chase HQ - One of my favourite games and cabs ever, currently in my garage after an extensive restoration.
JUN 12
OutRun
2 / Ferrari F355 - My favourite driving game. Cab has been converted
gradually and will shortly be having full NOS artwork put on it. Pride
of my garage this one.
How it looks now
JUL 12
Donkey Kong - German DK, played loads and then released back to its original owner.
JUL 12
Double Dragon II - Beaten up and broken Dynamo cab, very rare here, cleaned up, fixed up and gone!
AUG 12
Zaccaria Mini - Very rare cabaret cab, went to the Arcade Barn.
AUG 12
OutRun Mini - Nice mini with the rarely seen side art still intact. Had to shift it quickly due to space issues. Shame.
NOV 12
Sega Net City Candy - Near Mint sit down, cleaned up beautifully, sold to Andy.
NOV 12
Konami Windy II Candy - Stripped, cleaned, and fixed up. Lovely candy. Kept for a while then sold to Jodo who gave it even more love and got it back to Tri-sync/JVS and fixed the cp.
JAN 13
Magic
Maggot Cabaret - Gorgeous little cabaret cab. Some of the nicest
artwork I've seen on a little cab like this. Sold to Shaun.
FEB 13
APB - Was just too damn big for my game room, sold to RGP.
FEB 13
Electrocoin Midi #3 - Cleaned up and powdercoated metalwork, had it running Rod-Land for a while before swapping it for another cab.
MAR 13
Sega Dino King - Ended up being traded with Virtvic for some work and cash. I still don't know why I let him have it.
MAY 13 - The Simpsons - Kept this all of 5 minutes, when it arrived I quickly realised just how big it was in my little garage so had to pass it on quickly.
MAY 13 - S.C.I. #2 - Bought it again, got the urge to have it next to my Chase HQ, stripped, cleaned and fixed, then sold on to make space for more stuff.
MAY 13 - Nintendo Donkey Kong
The absolute pride and joy of my entire collection, I waited a very long time to get one of these and managed to snag a near mint one. I love it. It sits right next to my desk in my office, so close I can't get my chair fully up to the desk anymore
JUNE 13 - Electrocoin Midi #4 - another one of these, this time in brown! Had enough projects so passed it on quickly.
JULY 13 - Dino King #2 - converted in to a mini dedicated Ghouls n' Ghosts. I love this cab and was really proud of how it turned out.
JUNE 13 - Kenphone Puckman - Gave this an extensive restoration including reprinting all the perspex artwork. Absolutely gorgeous cab. Sold on to Jon/Pacman 83 naturally
JULY 13 - Euro Dig Dug - arrived in a really sorry state, and had a very in depth resto. Came out near mint, was really pleased with it. Traded for another cab later in the year, but hoping it will come home again this year as I miss it and wish I'd kept it. As usual space was my enemy.
JULY 13 - Star Wars Cockpit - One of my grail cabs, I couldn't say no when the opportunity came up to own one, it was in nice shape but running mame and had no internals. I was VERY lucky to be able to buy a complete set of working kit including a 25" amp, but when I started trying to put it back together realised I'd bitten off much more than I could manage especially in the tiny bit of space I had to work on it, so with regret I sold it on. It's now being given the full works by Jodo, and I'm very glad of that.
SEPTEMBER 13 - Taitel T-83 Bubble Bobble project - I'd always wanted to make a dedicated Bubble Bobble cab, but never found the right candidate - that was until this Taito/Taitel cabaret got offered to me, and I was able to finally get on and do it. Another project I'm really proud of, it came out better than I hoped, and it was great to see it getting played constantly at Play Expo last year.
NOVEMBER 13 - Juno First #2 - I'd been really regretting selling the first one, as it's so bloody rare and it's just such a damn fine game. When I had the chance at another one I jumped at it, and it ended up costing me some of my guitar collection in exchange so wasn't an easy get. Tarted up, and had some new artwork done. Has been running Circus Charlie until recently, which was another reason I wanted another one of these, to play all my favourite Konami classics.
DECEMBER 13 - U.S. Import OutRun - Ever since I had the mini I'd been wanting a full size upright, and when this one showed up I quickly sold a load of stuff to get it, Alex/chuckie egg lived really close to the seller and was kind enough to go and do a deal on it for me, and then take it home until Martin could go pick it up for me. It's in near perfect condition, the side art is almost mint. The whole cab is completely original and looks like it's never been in an arcade. I love it.
DECEMBER 13 - Initial-D - absolute nightmare cab, and the worst experience I've had restoring anything. Did finally finish it at ludicrous cost, played it solidly for a month and couldn't bare to look at it anymore so sold it for a huge loss.
JANUARY 14 - Space Harrier - I've been wanting one of these a long, long time when one showed up unexpectedly just down the road from me.
MARCH 14 - Afterburner - gave this an intense restoration which included all new artwork. Lovely cab, but again no space to keep it so had to sell it.
APRIL 14 - Cabaret cab/Fix it Felix - I'd been after a little cab to make a Fix it Felix Jr. dedicated when this one came along and seemed perfect for the job. I've mocked up the art for it but had to put it on hold for a while.
MAY 14 - Planet Harriers - super cool cab, and pretty rare. Had to have it alongside Space Harrier.
MAY 14 - Star Wars Upright - since the realisation of the cockpit not working in my collection I'd wanted a nice upright, so jumped on this one as soon as I saw it. A very nice example and one of the few cabs in the 'keeper' lineup!
AUGUST 14 - Chase HQ 2 Upright - I'd wanted one of these ever since I found out they made a sequel. The original game is easily in my top 5, so when I had the chance at a cheap one I jumped at it. Unfortunately to replace the bits needed I would have to spend a lot of cash and I just couldn't justify spending any more on it at the time so I kept it for 6 months then sold it on.
SEPTEMBER 14 - STUN Runner - Super cool cab and a great game, nice fast filled polygon graphics well advanced for its time. This was delivered personally by Darth nuno from Belgium while he was picking up a cab for himself from me and so had an empty trailer for the journey over here. It had a fault with the audio which Porchy very kindly fixed, I played it a load for many months and it had some good play at a few meets, but had to be traded on when a much bigger cab arrived the following June. Now off to Arcade Club.
NOVEMBER 14 - Mappy - this was one of my most wanted cabs of all time, the game is superb, and the cabinet is beautiful with some stunning art. The marquee is massive and loads of people hate the way it looks - but I love it. This is a genuine US import running on 110v which was brought over with a load of other cabs from a forum members personal collection. It's in superb original condition complete with licensing stickers still attached from where it came off site. I believe there are only 2 of these in the country now.
DECEMBER 14 - OutRun 2 SP DLX - Another of my all time favourite games, and having moved to a new house I was lucky enough to have the space to fit one of these in. I got offered a superb condition cab for a decent price so sold my regular cockpit one to help pay for this. At the same time I was able to get a nearly new 52" 4:3 Sony LCD screen which was fitted to the cab (after many hours struggle!) with tb2000's help. The result was amazing, and it's the cab that makes people go "wow!" whenever they see it for the first time. Love it.
JANUARY 15 - Lethal Weapon 3 pinball - picked up from a local cricket club not long after I moved house so was able to do a deal and get it back to the house right away. Been cleaned up and played almost daily since I got it.
FEBRUARY 15 - Gauntlet (2 Player version) - This was quite a find. Discovered in a raid and seemed to be completely untouched from the day it was taken off site by the op. The inside was mint and the cab cleaned up amazingly well, super rare to see and in superb condition. The biggest shock of all was that it fired up first time and worked perfectly! I knew it was a grail cab for Jodo so I ended up passing it on to him very recently.
FEBRUARY 15 - Atari Pole Position II Midi Upright - Bought off eBay for (what appeared to be) a bargain £100. Turned out to have a completely screwed pcb, 2 bad AR2's, a monitor chassis with pretty much everything wrong, broken shifter, botched steering connectors and a rusty cp with knackered art. Currently finishing off an extensive restoration which is very nearly complete now.
APRIL 15 - A.P.B. - Second one I've owned, now I had the room for it I was desperate to get another cab and I was very lucky to be able to buy the one from the big raid in Manchester.
Was untested, rusty & dirty but after a long cleaning session it came up beautifully.
MAY 15 - Daytona USA Cockpit - Bought 2 twins in one lot with Jodo so we could take all the best bits to make a nice cab each. They cleaned up pretty well, and we both ended up with a decent pile of spares too.
MAY 15 - Atari Time Pilot - I've always wanted a dedicated cab for this, it's a game I can play over and over. Some guys knew I really wanted one and had a message from Alpha1 one day to say there was one with my name on it if I wanted it. A quick phone call later to Ravage and it was mine
After tb2000 rebuilt the AR2 it fired up and has been running Circus Charlie as the TP pcb had some faults, now on the repair pile with Porchy and while that's being done I'll be giving it a bit of a restoration and making it mint as it's one I'll be keeping.
MAY 15 - Hot-Rod - An awesome but massive cab, incredible fun with 4 players. Bought as a bit of a project but came together nicely after a fair bit of work. It's been played loads since I got it running, and one particular afternoon 4 of us played it non-stop for about 2 hours!
MAY 2015 - Dino Kings - bought a lot of these little cabs. Realised quickly it was more than any one man needed to own
JUNE 15 - More Dino Kings and a Love & Berry - had some more delivered that wouldn't fit in the van the first time, along with a mint Love & Berry that was already jamma converted. Will be keeping this line of 3 plus another one, to make 4 little dedicateds from like I did with the Ghouls n Ghosts cab.
JUNE 15 - Toobin' - Great game and an awesome cab. Alpha1 again found me one of my most wanted games through another collector, I saw the amazing condition it was in and a deal was quickly done. Chassis had a colour fault so that's off being done. Waterfall mech was part missing and that's a bit that NEEDS to work so I've got some spares coming from the US right now that should help get it working again.
JUNE 15 - OutRun DLX Cockpit - I always said I'd only ever get rid of my lovely upright for a cockpit, and after a long search and one particularly painful bad deal which left me with no cab at all I managed to get this one thanks to IndyJones on here. After a very long day with tb2000's help we got it assembled and working. It was a very happy day that's for sure. And that brings the collection up to date.
