Well, I have been a member of this place a fair while, lurking and contributing where I can and even meeting a good few of you, most may have thought who is the non arcade owning chap lol..

Well no longer chappets, I am the proud owner of my first cab with an original Phoenix PCB.

It was on ebay, not in pristine condition I know but this only cost me £150 all in, I can do some magic, learn the trade lol, make some additions of a multigame board. sideart and so on.

Here is part of the original advert.

"It has a genuine Pheonix board and was working until recently as it took longer for the screen to boot up. It now sometimes works and sometimes does not. The colours have gone funny as you can see in the pictures. The sound has never worked and dont know why."

Any ideas chaps?

But let me tell ya, I am buzzing at the moment.. lol

Looks like degauss issue to me. The lads on here can tell more about that if they agree (something about a black wire that goes around the monitor). Waving a large magnet thing around has fixed this for me in the past!

And congrats on firmly joining the club... but when's the next one landing? :)

Lol, well we are having a log cabin built in the next few weeks.. I have permission for one but I think I will be aloud one more once this is in place.. I really want a Nintendo cab so that's the next plan, also we have two out buildings that I have full of my Retro gear, going to sell half of it and convert to a game room, reckon I could get a couple more in there lol.. (oh dear)

But that's the future just buzzing at the moment oh its bloody heavy also.

Defo looks like the monitor needs degaussing. Monitors in JAMMA cabs are usually set to auto degauss every time they're switched on, but have a look around for a button to do it. If there's no button, then the degauss circuit is probably faulty, but is usually a simple fix (if you're prepared to remove the chassis to work on it).

JAMMA cabs feel really heavy when you first get one, but after you've shifted one around for a while, they suddenly don't feel that heavy.

This is identical to my first cab, I am wondering if it actually was it! Funny that quote above, as I had no idea it would weigh so much, and used to have to get people to move it for me, as just couldn't. Since then have had much heavier/bigger cabs and have moved those. :)

I now have one of these cabs again, but with 6 buttons for each player, nice small compact cabs they are, good buy.

Quite a special time when the first cab arrives, it's something so different to anything else and brings back some great memories

Not much better way to play the classic games Jamma Cab + Jamma PCB = 80's

apart from dedicated but as long as there original board in old cab, it beats mame, consoles etc all day

Good man

I got it of a guy in Milton Keynes??

What cab is it known as or is it just a generic jamma cab?

Saw this on EBay until it was withdrawn from sale.

Well done though, was after it myself to match my Classic 26 cabinet. Same decals just bigger.

Hello :)

I had thought this one had ended up on gumtree actually. There is an identical cab up there that popped up the moment this one ended, at a much higher price.

So well done for grabbing one at a great price :) And welcome :)

The guy just wanted rid of it in the end so I guess I got lucky with the price but good advice told me in its current state it was not worth a whole lot more and cheers.

Nice cab - nice game inside - nice price (for these days)

If the degaussing circuit doesn't work, either fix it, get it fixed or just leave it alone and manually degauss it with a degaussing wand.

Ok I have got the manual, will that point me to where this button will be?

Also no mention of a freeplay option, I guess I need to add a button to add credits as though it mimics the coins?zapiy2016-09-23 19:59:38

Tried dip switches 5,6, or 7? (1-4 do lives / bonus, and 8 is the upright/cocktail setting)
