Think it was a space invaders 2. Needs a few relatively minor bits sorted.

Coin box runners as one is missing which I plan to sort myself.

Getting the lid locks to work. Mechanisms seem okay and have key I just think lack of use may re-assemble and clean etc.

Coin mech needs a good clean so it works everytime which I'll sort myself.

Glass is in pretty good nick and as I plan to use and rest my pint on I will leave. May try and get a new replacement for the future.

Wood and black bottom are fine just need a polish maybe a respray for the black which I'll do myself.

Legs need re-chroming which I will need to look into. Not sure on where's and hows of this. Can anyone advise?

Fascias around joystick are in good nick. Would like to remove the english language stickers but as they have probably been on there since day one I will leave as would want to damage it.

Eventually replace joysticks and buttons. All work fine but feel tired. Non urgent.

Inside apart from a few cobwebs all looks very good and tidy apart from sound volume issue which I may cut in a resistor control on the wiring unless it is a board issue. Looking at tonight.

VERY cautious of monitor as read that they are dangerous but would like to give it a gentle hoover. Not sure if wise though. Can anyone advise?

Came with a 60-1 which I cannot figure out how to turn into 2 player cockatil mode through jumpers. Can get to service screen as shown in manual and highlight items but not select to change/enable mode. If anyone can help with this it would be appreciated I am hoping I am not lacking the extra button I need to do this !!!!

It does play very well so I am looking forward to working on it and slowly getting all of the above sorted then maybe project 2 already thinking of an upright to widen the amount of games I can run. I used to do a lot of electronics soldering for work so I may have to get a new iron and really start learning again.

Any advice on any of the above would be gratefully received.

I like how the '1/2 Players' and 'Control' are in English, and the fire button is in Japanese!

I guess it roughly translates to 'Shoot the bastards!'.

The English stickers over the japanese writing next to the controls were fitted to all machines sold in the UK and are original. The sticker under the fire button probably got a bit more of a pasting and eventually somebody peeled it off. It looks ok as it is to me, plenty are like that.

The joystick you have is probably a 4/8-way hacked in there, the original would have been just 2 way..

Whats going on with your coin box? looks like the coin box is missing and you have a whole extra metal panel there?

Ah good to know re joystick for when I replace. Makes sense as Space Invaders only went left & right! The coin box has 'dropped' as one of the metail runners is missing. I was doubtful that it was original and I think it has been fitted to stop tea leaves as it is fairly heavy duty. When it is at the correct height on the one runner it closes flush and locks so I will probably black it up to hide it a bit.

I'm not sure what you mean by metal runners or dropping.. the original doesn't have any of that? The cashbox is fits into a cutout in the table...

Are you restoring the machine back to Space Invaders part 2?

Stop me if i'm crazy, but it seems awful that this table was probably original up until literally only a few years ago, now its being put back the way it was... reversing the work some multigame dilbert did only recently.. Where are the people to actually buy these machines before they get multigamed? :(

Guess I add non standard cash box to list to. I would like to restore and purchase a SI2 board but retain the 60-1 functionality for nephews as they would'nt last long with just one game. Maybe the answer is to restore this one and buy a more modern one with that purpose in mind.

you could just get an SI part 2 pcb with a jamma adapter, but this depends on if your monitor was removed and an LCD installed... is your monitor original?

I believe so, its not an LCD and it looks like the old ones in the photos I see on here a lot with the cage and a ton of cabling hence my concern in adjusting the horizontal pots for screen rolling on the 60-1as I have heard about the volatges involved. I will photo later and post.

hmm.

Its a fairly hacked table, there's not a lot original left, the monitor and mount are not original, there's no original loom or power supply...

can't give you guidance on adjusting that monitor as its not a normal Taito type, i dont even recognise it, would need a better photo of the chassis.

With the coin box area already an issue, you might want to consider something a little less mullered to start with :)

In that case I'll restore externally and leave the insides alone. One last question am I right in saying that as long as I dont poke around the circular item stuck to the body of the screen I should be fairly safe in adjusting the pots I can see on the circuit boards below?

Thanks.

no, there re hazardous voltages in many places on a live chassis, not just the anode going to the tube that you describe...

If you can see adjustable controls on the monitor, wear a pair of marigolds before touching it, this will avoid any unneccesary shocks..
