Coin mech works (Mars MS111) but is on old £1 although 20ps work so that's good - not sure if these can be reprogrammed?

Yes, the old MS111 can be reprogrammed for the new £1. However, because it’s now so outdated, you might struggle to find someone who’s prepared/or can do it. It’s going to be cheaper to simply buy a ME111/ME115 (or equivalent) and use that instead. You should be able to get one on eBay for about £10 already upgraded for the new £1.

Thanks that’s really helpful!

Oh and I already suggested moving the sofa to fit more cabs in. I won’t repeat the foul language my wife hurled at me here

None of the companies I've dealt with would offer reprogramming for the ms111. The 2 mechs suggested are good replacements, you could also use the ms126 or me126 from an old fruit machine too. You'd need to remove the coin separator from it and I think it'll need a little link to allow 10p entry. Whatever you go for just make sure that it's ' front entry ' and ' front reject ' for the coins. I think the ms111 front entry can be swapped onto whichever mech you get but the reject plate is an issue. Try and get one already programmed for the new coins as I think companies still charge £20-30+postage. You could pop a thread in the ' wanted ' section, there are a some people on here who are still in the coin op business.

Thanks! I'll definitely take your advice and post in the wanted section as it'll be great to get the cab taking new coins.

Nice pickup!

Glad you asked about the coin mech. I have the same one running on old pound coins too. It's really bizarre all the other coins work along as they are the ones before the design change to the ones with the coats of arms on.

I might just look on ebay for an updated one and have done with it. Although everyone is this house knows now to keep those older coins when they get them in their change. They never seem to ask to swap them and just put them in a pile so I might not say anything at all lol
