Hi All,

I'm taking delivery of this on Wednesday and I'm super excited!

cabin_sigma_44.jpg.png

So this weekend me and my mate Paul have started to clear the old garage.

Inside without the games in but still a lot of rubbish to move!

After two days this is where we have got to! I'm so tired!

The wife is also not happy ether, as there is no walking room in the kitchen or the dining room.

Not a bad start, got some levelling to do and lots to clear up but I'll get there.

gonna do a bit each night this week.

I also have another amazing friend coming on Saturday to pick all the rubbish up.

Oh by the way, if anyone wants some garage doors let me know, pick up from Southend only.

So that's it for now, I'll get a photo later to show the state of the house, with all the stuff in it.

Thanks guys

Steve

Hi, you have a nice friend ! Plenty of beers after ? What size is it, and is it flat packed sides or something. If it is and you are able to could you photo each section as it goes up.

Yep he's a top bloke !! and yes, we went down the sea front and had a good drink last night

The size is 16 foot deep and 18 foot across.

It's a flat pack, all lose planks of wood only the doors and roof are in one piece.

I was thinking about doing the whole photo thing, so yes not a problem.

I was looking at these cabins last year, so I will be interested to see how it goes and what you think of it.

That should give you a good space though.

Cheers

Ohhh looking forward to seeing this come up.like a toy to assemble. Have you got to do anything to the ground or will it go straight down. What's the total height ? Is it a local supplier to you .

So, there is the levelling of the land and I'm going to wrap the beams to stop any damp rising.
hight is 8 foot it can be bigger but because of building regs I have to keep it below 8 ft otherwise I have to get planning permission

Could of chanced it and had it made to the max size hight but it's just not worth the hassle of someone getting the hump and reporting it.

Took delivery of the cabin yesterday!! cool !
However, the 7.5 ton Lorry was not able to get down the side of the house (where I have 2 big gates!)

So,the 2 and a bit tones of wood nicely stacked had to be set down at my front door

I forgot to take a photo when it was dropped off, but heres a photo I have.

This is what 2 tons of wood looks like! taken at 3pm

I had to walk all of this to the back garden on my own, btw I do IT I'm not a builder so not used to this sh!t !

this next photo was taken at 5pm

half.jpg

half way there!

It was starting to hurt by this point

I was finished about 7:45ish

I never want to move that much wood again in my life!!!

One good thing about moving it the way I did, is that I was able to organise all of the wood into piles so that should make the build process easier?

I will get a shot of all the wood set out in the garden but it was too dark and I have no lights out there at the moment, as I have shut off all the electrics to the garden.

Thats it till the weekend now!

I loves me some good wood! It'll all be worth the effort in the end and as you say at least it is organised now. Good luck with the build.

Haha thanks for the hug JESSYBR!

To be fair, I am a bit stiff but I'm ok, thought that I would be a lot worse!

still can't get a photo of all the bits laid out, because I just got stuck on a train for 3 hours !

My luck not too good at the mo!

Oh well its Friday tomorrow.

Hi Guys,

So, had a lots of stuff to sort out from the old building, getting rid of the blocks that made up the old shed and the roof.

Also the stuff that came out of there needed sorting so go that done.

So that was Saturday!

Sunday I managed to get the base put in and all levelled.

Recommendation to anyone doing this, Hire a mixer! its hard work doing it all by hand!

So thats it for another weekend, this Saturday the build can start!

Just before I go, I managed to get that picture with all the wood set out in the garden.

Update time,

So, it would seem that my back garden is not that level.

drop.jpg

Over at the right hand side of the garden I have a dip around 4 foot!

so I started to remove the bricks and come across a Hole around 3 foot deep!

stick.jpg

That took around 2 bags of sand to fill then another 4 bags to level this all off, I lost a whole morning to this stupid hole
smiley7.gif

However after this small setback we got underway!

base.jpg

The thing that took the longest was making sure that the base true and square, as if I didn't get that right it could go wrong later on(twisted doors or windows) or it would not sit right.

but this whole build is mostly slot together and then wood started disappearing real fast.

Within the hour we started seeing some real progress!

doors.jpg

Still hard work though
smiley20.gif

Next we got up to the window level its a two man job but its so easy it just slots in like a dream!

windows.jpg

This is pretty much where we had to leave it on Monday night.

as you can see in the light its starting to look the part

bird.jpg

The garden looks less like a bomb site now!

Had to put a big tarp as the roof as its raining today so I hope that will keep most of the rain out, I would have loved to got the roof on but work is getting in the way of life as usual!

Thats going to be it until the weekend again.

Are you going to get some guttering for that building next to your garden, my concern there is water will run down either on to your new build or hit the ground and splash up on the right hand side.

Looking good though, I like the slide in wood option, sound far easier to put together that way.
