My living room wall

This is a wall i painted in my living room. It was quite easy to do, i just drew a grid in pencil, and then painted in the individual pixels. At Christmas i festived it up by making a card santa hat, which i stuck onto the head of one of the invaders!

I didn't use stencils, i drew it out on graph paper first, then drew a grid in pencil on the wall. I then transferred the picture on the graph paper onto the wall by painting in each individual pixel.

"Right love, i'm going to decorate the living room for you as a surprise! Your not allowed to see it until it's finished so go stay at your mates for the day"

Slightly OT, but when I was doing my computing GCSE we used Research Machines RML480Z gear for coding, I wrote some safe cracking game, the high point of which (git me an A!) was its revolutionary animated graphics. They were essentially vectors and because the machine was too slow to calculate transforms on the fly I had to draw everything on graph paper, colour each grid cell and then type it into a very long DATA statement.

I'd managed to forget about all of this but when I was looking at the photo and reading your explanation the big long strings of DATA statements came flooding back

Jesus H Christ, we had an RML 380Z when I was at school but I much preferred teh sexy BBC Micro Computers

Besides, there was someone doing a project on the RML and no one else got a chance! IIRC, on of the maths teachers did all of the school's timetabling on it too! In a tenuous claim to fame, he was Gloria Hunniford's brother!

Phew, blast from the past!

Cheers,

Ralph.

Oh yeah, neat living room decor and very nicely executed.

I'm guessing you live on your own?

My wife would have my testicles for earrings if I did something like that in the living room

We had the 380z too, big bulky black machine with 2 5.25" floppy drives, black keyboard and a green screen. I was fascinated to see someone wrote a fruit machine simulator, but soon tired of watching it slowly draw up the reels!

I prefered the alternative other machine in the computer room (which wasn't much more than a broom cupboard) the TRS-80, which thinking back wasn't much better! But at least you didn't have to wait for it to load BASIC
