I don't have enough space for a 'collection' as such, so my Sega Rally u/r had to go (along with a few other things in our garage) to make way for this little beastie.
It's my grail cab that I'd been after for some time, and after just missing out on a Race Drivin' cockpit on Ebay at the start of 2011 I thought my chance might've gone, as there don't seem to be many of these cabs going begging. I think this is mostly due to them not being that popular back in the day, so I guess a lot of them got junked once they started to wear out. I loved it as a teenager though, particularly the realism of the car's handling, which was way ahead of its time in 1989 (I'm a sim geek at heart
).
Most of you will already know who this came from (even if you missed his recent sale thread) but massive thanks to Oll for parting with it. Must also say a big thank you to Rav, who helped my mate and I get it out of his lockup and into our van - with just the two of us I think we would've died trying. At 340kg I swear Atari have hidden a block of uranium somewhere inside it, as an extreme form of ballast.
Anyway here it is. First pic was taken right after I got it home, hence the dust where it had been in storage for a while. I know it's not most people's idea of a classic, but it'd be a dull world if we were all the same, so just be pleased for me cos I'm well chuffed with it
P.S. I do plan to try and tart it up a bit ('restore' would be bit generous given my limited technical abilities), so may start a progress thread on that in due course.
