My OutRun 2 work being sold for profit on eBay

A heads up on this OutRun 2 artwork being sold on eBay, I hope people can understand why I'm fuming about this.

I recreated this from scratch using scans of originals generously provided by Gary/OutRun 2 after finding out they were NLA from Sega or any suppliers. I spent a lot of hours working on these, and when finished I uploaded them to Jamma+ so other forum members could print them out, with the only condition that they not be hosted anywhere else or sold for profit. Then I spot this auction today asking £25 per piece for what is clearly my work.

I've asked the seller to remove it as I know it's taken from my files. He denies it and says they are repro's of originals.

Here is a little comparison. There's no doubt they are mine. I'd just ask that you please don't buy from this guy and if you can share in my anger you might report these items as sale of copyrighted materials.

Original:

My repro - with a couple of pretty big mistakes - I couldn't match the lower case 'g' properly and I also left the 'y' and 'p' far too long on the tails - which I fixed on a later version which isn't on here yet. There are other things as well, like the palm trees being much too dark in the version uploaded here.

And the one on eBay. Pretty f*cking obvious where it's from.

If anyone actually needs a set I'd be happy to send you the files FREE of course. The whole point of sharing them was so that people didn't have to pay silly money for a repro.

Very sad to see this, but I'm also heartened to see how much honesty and fair prices there are on here. You'll always get the crafty minority, but this behaviour is at an all time low in my reckoning. The racketeers are chasing the silver ball these days!.

I was pretty pissed when I saw it too and its not even my work.. Deano is a good friend of a J+ member so it isn't hard to work out where he got the files from unless he has his own account over there.. Sad times but ive reported the auction also.

On a more upbeat note, this excellent repro panel makes me want to ask how you do it. I need to do a new cpo for a virtual on conversion, but given the fact the cab is also going to be home to a robot monsters board I'd like to roll my own and have some fun with it. I have a copy of photoshop cs but that's it. Can you give me some pointers

I was much more accurate with this one, there is one big change I made from the original, however he's conveniently missed that bit off in the close up pics.

I did all of it in Photoshop - which is fine if you are creating a graphic to only ever print in one size. Otherwise vector is the way to go.
I've got a run through of the process I used to do these, I'll try and put it up tomorrow

Great work dude and this guy should be ashamed. I can appreciate if someone is making prints available at cost for other collectors given that not everyone may have the equipment to print them, but that looks like profiteering to me. About to report now.

.i was thinking about to buying a set from him to mod they looked awsome.then i saw this thread.i had been looking for this artwork for quite a while now .i have 2 upright cabs and have been looking for scans so i could mod with photoshop myself for a long time .i didnt realise this is what he had done.i hate to see people prosper from someones hard work.if i was you i would be really pissed off.i think fleabay has removed this url the one you pointed out up top.i see he is still selling other scans i hope he sells none.i would be more than greatfull if you could send me some scans my way.i would be glad to send you some payment using paypal to give you something back for all your hard work.

Olly, your graphic abilities never cease to amaze me. I can wield photoshop to an extent but not like this. Do keep up the good work and I hope this guy gets a number of strikes against him stops doing it.

He did pull the listing yesterday, but has now resisted it with a couple of minor alterations thinking in some way that makes it alright.

i just want to say thank you so much.i was willing to give you a donation.its people like you that makes this scene enjoyable,and people like him that need stepping on i could understand if he did the hard work himself and wanted to make something back out of it.this is not the case and its you who should be selling on ebay not him.F****** parasite.
