My somewhat small collection

Hi,

Been into the arcades for years, first started collecting around 2004 I think. Since then i've accumulated a fair amount of pcbs (around 150 ish) and loads of spares, bits and pieces.

I've only actually got 3 machines due to not having much space to put them in. They are:

Sega Hang-On
Electrocoin Goliath Mk3
Zenitone Deal 'Em

I've had the Goliath the longest, since 2005 I think, was my first proper cab after the attempt I made at building a Supergun!

The Hang-On came next, I think I got that about 2007 ish. It was in pretty good nick, although the boardset wasn't working and the handlebars were missing one of the cables (can't remember if it was the accelerator or brake now). After a fair amount of time and several faulty boardsets I got a working one from America. Little while after I got the handlebars and some other bits from a Hang -On someone was breaking.

I got the Deal' Em about a month or so ago, it worked although the monitor didn't work. I've got another MTC9000 chassis for that (the original was too far gone to repair), so it's pretty much working now, apart from one of the payout solonoids. The cabinets a bit tatty though. The artwork on the main glass parts are all 99% good fortunately.

Unfortunately the Goliath's sparkly monitor glass panel cover thing got broken yesterday (not by me!), so i'm currently on the lookout for one of them!

I'll probably get one more cab soon but that'll have to be it for a while!

If you can't find a replacement I'm sure you'd be able to go to your local glazier and get another piece made pretty cheaply. Just mask it off and spray the bit you don't want to see through black and you're good to go Better than nowt.

Hi Dan,

I was thinking of doing just that actually, getting a bit of tinted/smoked glass cut to go in the hole, at least temporarily anyway.
Hopefully, someone will have one lurking somewhere!

Yeah I don't think it would cost too much, as long as they don't have to order it in special or something using an offcut etc. As you say it's better than nothing as a temp fix.

Here's a couple of pics:

Currently running Lethal Enforcers in the Goliath, not a great game but good for a quick blast! (That's the main reason the (now broken) glass was out of the cab, as I haven't modded one of my spare control panels yet!)

Hang-On's a bit dusty but all works apart from the coin mech, which I forgot to say before. Can only play it by pressing the service button.

Deal 'Em - cabs a bit edgy as I say but not that bad. Most of the bulbs work but I have some replacements for the few broken ones now.

I've got the internals from a Time Crisis DX, Crisis Zone, Ridge Racer and Ridge Racer 2 and Rave Racer, Ace Driver boardsets which i'd like to build into (possibly homemade) smaller cabs at some point in the future.

I love the Deal'em cab, I saw that on ebay nearly had a bid myself, I remember those...great times.

Does your Goliath monitor rotate on a circular piece of wood? I thought Mk3's did that, or was it Mk2's?

its not size thats important its what you do with it. saying that though thats a lot of boards you have. i generally at least once a year clear out boards if i havent used them. i dont store them too well

i leave boards all over the place im a messy old hector. are you a biker ??? i only ask as most people have stand up car driving cabs. cheers.

The Goliath monitor does indeed rotate on a circular piece of wood (well, mdf), Paul:

There's two switches on the left that flip the image horizontally or vertically. Might have to swap the MTC900E chassis for one of my spares as it doesn't seem to be degaussing the tube properly at the minute.

No, i'm not a biker John! Only push-bikes, very occasionally! As it happens I'd like a decent little driving cab at some point.
What I want to do (long-term) is to try and get at least some of the cabs that I used to play each time when I was on holiday in Cornwall many years ago. Hang-On was one of them, as was the Deal 'Em. The Deal 'Em isn't exactly the same design cab as the one I used to play but it's close enough, at least the game is the same! It was a bargain on eBay though!

I bought the Goliath mainly for the rotatable screen, I didn't actually see one in the few arcades I used to go into until a few years ago.

Some of the other machines i'd like in the future include Paperboy (or kit, I already have a pcb set I think), Atari System 1 cab (got aMarble Madness kit already!), Super (or Championship) Sprint (or a kit for the Paperboy cab, or vice versa), Time Crisis, Ridge Racer, (might build smaller custom cabs for these two as I haven't the room for full size ones and already have the pcb and loom kits as mentioned above). Maybe i'd also need a couple of jamma cabs for Raiden and Crude Buster! There's a number of others I can't remember right now!
