These two arrived today. They are fully functional, but they are mighty dirty. I will be working on one at a time, so I’ve put one together to play on, then swap over.

First up will be full strip and deep clean. Seimitsu LSX-NOBI and Seimitsu buttons on 2L14B-3S panels that Alberto is knocking up. New wiring harnesses too. I’ve ordered the NAMCO linking PCB, so I can do Vs. as well as 4-Up. I’ll probably sell these official panels.

I’ve got an exA-Arcadia setup on the way and I already have a Type X2 multi and an ES3 to mess about with. A pair of JVS MiSTer setups should be here soon too.

Seems like a good little project. I’ll update as I go.

Cabs look nice shame I got a Alberto Noir CP (2L12B) only at xmas otherwise I'd be all over one of the official cp's.

Mine was pretty dirty too under the speaker covers was crazy but they clean up nice.

I changed the monitor in mine to a LG Ultragear 2K.

The expected rust on the control panel housing. I guess that the other one is the same. Nothing a sand blast and powder coat can’t sort though I suppose.

My experience of having cabs in the house is you get fed up with them quicker than if you have a dedicated games room or outbuilding as they are just in the way when not in use.

I agree. I have my Egret II in my office. I’m having my garage turned into an arcade/cinema/music room, so these two will go in there once it’s done. Fortunately, they can live in the kitchen for now and I have plenty of space in there to work on them.

Seimitsu x Attasa LSX-NOBI Pro DRYSURF Full Matte Set with internal and external black Wagara dust washers. Reduced noise PS-14-GN and DN buttons throughout. I think that housings in MVS colours is a little more subtle than plungers. I’ll add the blue button once the new panels arrive.

Nice, Noir's are great cabs. Which exA games have you gone for?
The system comes with Aka to Blue Type R. I’m also going with Akai Katana, DoDonPachi SaiOuJou and Samurai Spirits V Perfect.

I’ve got my eye on a second system for the other Noir with Air Gallet and Batsugun 1.5. That’ll leave me space for two future titles.

The Irken Labs JVS Expander came in. Fantastic bit of kit this is. I already had the JAMMA Expander for my Egret II, so I cloned the SD card to save time on having to painstakingly arrange everything for the Noir.

I’ve got this on VGA and the exA will be on DVI. I can swap between them at the touch of a button on the remote board.

MiSTer is very handy for older stuff and it is cycle-accurate, so you can’t really tell that you aren’t playing an actual PCB. Plus, you can rotate the display, which means that I can still play Armed Police Batrider properly even though the Noir does not feature a rotate mech. Scan lines too!

I also get to play Hyper Fighting, which you probably know is something that pleases me hugely.

I’ve just ordered two sets of Lindy cables to replace the ones that were inside. They arrive tomorrow. After that I’ve just got to clean up the main PSU and then reattach the control panel and the first one will be done. I have ordered two complete new sets of screws for both of them, but that’s an easy job as 99% of them are external.

Next week, I shall tackle the second one. It should be a much faster turnaround as I know exactly what I’m doing now as far as stripping them down.

I’ve 99% rewired the first one with these pricey Lindy cables. The Noir features an intricate cable routing system, which doesn’t end up looking very tidy when everything is plugged in. I bought extra long DVI and VGA cables, which are now routed under the bottom tray. This way I have VGA coming from the left and DVI coming from the right.

I’m waiting on some RCA to 3.5mm Klotz MC5000 cables that I’m having made to arrive and then I’ll be able to do away with that annoying adapter.

After this, it’s just the control panel powder coat and the monitor replacement to go.

I’m quite pleased with my work so far.

Quick update.

The first Noir has been cleaned to within an inch of its life. The rusted control panel housing is due back from shot blasting and powder coating at the end of the week. I’m waiting on 7B exA-Arcadia-compatible control panels and new wiring harnesses so that the menu button works to arrive any day now too.

However, the most important part of the entire two-cab setup arrived just now. I now have Vs./4-Up capability due to this NAMCO Vs Connect PCB. Luckily, I found it for very cheap compared to what most sellers charge.

Everything is coming together nicely.
