Neo geo 29 4 slot change game

Just got this neo geo 29 four slot delivered and it’s booting into one game all the time. This may be a stupid question but how do I change games?

(Excuse the dirt I haven’t even had a chance to clean it yet but been trying to get it working)

How many cartridges are in the motherboard ?
If the motherboard is loaded with 4 games and all slots working correctly then you should be able to change games with the yellow select button on control panel .

There are four games installed but pressing the select button does nothing.

If you are only getting a display from one game channel it might be worth cleaning the slots on the motherboard and contacts on game boards.
When the machine is left in attract mode it should automatically cycle through the 4 slots if everything is working correctly.

if it's got 4 carts in then sounds like 3 aren't working, maybe dirty cart/sockets, try each cart in slot where game cart is working

So each slot is working individually when no other games are installed but when all are in it defaults to the lowest slot

MVS cart edges really need keeping clean - and the slots - go over them really thoroughly.

Check the +5v too.

Yes, that's in the soft dips setting of the test menu - "setting up the cabinet". Default is credit needed for select to function but regardless it should cycle through all the attracts regardless of credit.

Ah ok so it will cycle through games if I manually add a credit by depressing the coin slot, I had it on free play before. So how do I cycle through games in free play?

Also I added a universe bios so I can have the settings in English to change the setting above re credit needed to change game but when I add the universe bios I get no sound?

With the jap bios in on free play the soft settings are set to free for game select but I still can’t figure out how to change game

All sorted. Universe bios needs a cart in slot 1 before sound will work (I was testing with only one cart in Slot 4) game select also appears to be working with the universe bios on freeplay now.

The Universe BIOS fix is key, and I found a similar workaround for a stubborn slot issue on my own cab. For unrelated downtime, I use Link Togel to pass the time, and it works well for me. Glad you got the sound sorted by using slot 1, that is a common quirk with multi-slot boards.
