I will. Delt with plenty of battery damaged boards. I’m also in the fruit machine community. Will remove, clean and repair ??

If you’re interested in fruit machine related things I am probably open to selling some Barcrest MPU4 boards and video boards.

FIXED!!

So I watched some videos and did some research and fixed the issue.

As per the diagnostic chip, it was the lower WRAM on my 6 slot which is the one I’d previously thought. I couldn’t find the exact spec chip (in terms of speed original 12L replacement 90L) anywhere hence the long delay in sorting it but I spoke with Craig Goodwin on Facebook who had replaced ram on his 1 slots with success and he advised that the chip speed shouldnt be an issue.

So I bit the bullet and bought a pack of 90L chips from Poland which arrived last week. I invested in a rework station/heat gun. I whipped the bad ram off and chucked the new one in and was delighted to find it actually fixed it!!

Now it’s all working perfect with all 6 slots doing the business!

Thanks for the advice here and if I can help at all please ask!

Below is the screen i was getting.

Evening all. Just fitted my bios diagnosis chip and...

So I tried loading up the carts again and:

I'm assuming that i'm replacing the normal bios chip when i fit the diagnosis chip. Could my bios chip be bust, or is there something else i'm missing. i did the looping RAM tests and no issues. Not quite sure where to go from here. Any advice/help much appreciated.

Cheers

John

Maybe get a unibios chip? They’re less than 15-20 quid. Could be as simple as that.

Exactly this…

That’s the right image for a standard Bios… if it boots no further and hangs at that point, maybe get a new bios. It’s absolutely worth getting the UniBios anyway.

Also, in the mean time, make sure the socket for the bios is clean, and all the legs on the chip are all good, clean, and comfortably slotted into the socket

I assume they just fit straight in, no modifiactions etc? Seems the only thing it could be unless the diagnosis chip has missed something or i have :). Anyone know a good place for uni bios??

Have you used deoxit on all your cartridge slots and cartridge contacts
Also worth doing the small contacts between the two motherboard pcbs

No, the carts work fine in the single slot. I assumed if one wasn't working the rest would. Do i need to have all the slots loaded with carts to make it work?

Not sure how i clean the contacts on the mobo.

You don’t need to populate all the slots. The mobo will just ignore any unpopulated slots.

You can clean most things on there with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush.
