Really regret moving on my previous candy cabs so picked up a new astro city cab today its a project so hopefully we can get it back working.
It's not going to be a full on restoration more of a clean up and get it running🤞
It's been sat for 3 years not working it's not powering up so hoping it's more a psu issue 🤞
Had to strip it down to get it in the car so will hopefully get some more pics uploaded tomorrow once I get it back out... Its too wet out atm and my backs gone on me 😆
Watching @Ex_Mosquito vids years ago made me love the astro and everytime I watch him play on his channel it makes me want one back (just wish I could play as good as him though 🤣) so yeah it's your fault mate!

Nice to see you have another cab, looks like it's got a NVS-4000-01 PSU in there - that would be very useful.

*edit might be an amp never seen inside a NAC
To be honest I never really looked at that whole section I just thought it'll be some sort of transformer as it's running on uk plug

More cleaning today and posted the chassis to grant.
Cleaned most of the cab 3 times now 😆 I've always cleaned machines soon as I get them it's one of my favourite parts tbh
Look at the tar still dripping off
Took a pic of the rear monitor panel so you can see how yellow it is*

This brings back memories..it's looking good though.

When I saw this I was blown away how well the panel on the right had come up! Looks like new.. then realised it was a dehumidifier.

Edit: I'm also interested what this metal part is attached to the rear of the cab?

🤣 yeah I put it next to the dehumidifier so you could see how yellow it was.
I was thinking the same about that metal panel.. never seen one before but also I've never had an astro with that psu setup (it has got an amp in there) I'm thinking maybe it's some sort of shield for interference?
The doors and panels will never probably come up as good as the shell has but I'm going to start cleaning them tomorrow (might try a bit of T-cut on them)

Another day, another clean. I know the routine too well. lol

A car polisher and some decent cutting compound polish will get rid of a lot of the discoloration on the metalwork, I think it's mainly from ciggie smoke. Mine came up a treat, you'd probably want to cover up the stickers though.

Yeah good idea i have a car buffer I've had for years and never used 🤔
Yeah ill have to mask them off before I try it.. like you said I don't mind few marks on machines as long as it's clean not all rusted up or rotten (always aim to get burn free tubes)
