My dining table that is about 20 years old is still extremely sturdy(its a solid oak thing), but is getting a bit worn, so i have started to look at replacing it in the next few years.

Which brings me onto my latest dilemma, I've been looking at getting either a Rathskellers board game table or a pool table(which can basically double as a gaming table due to the fabric) but don't really live anywhere close to Bristol to visit the place and am wondering whether the pool tables are just shite

anyone got either or and what are your opinions on them?

Not sure if this is a troll post, but I'll bite since it's Christmas.........

They are great.
We went for the snooker table version.

We use ours all the time and regularly have snooker themed eating competitions with the family next door. Getting sprouts out of the pockets can be troublesome, but, after buying some special tongs from the supplier we couldn't be happier. The tables comes with free Cyber Monday jumpers at the moment.

Recommended if you also have the matching Bespoke Lightgun Gamecade Shootercade XXL cabinet!

I've seen gaming tables that can be used as a dining table, but never seen a pool table that converts into a dining table. There's the whole space, aesthetic, size. leveled playing surface and stability things to factor in, but I guess anything is possible if you want to make compromises.

I guess you could have a pool table with a dinner table top, or a dinner table with a pool table top.
Depends if you'd spend more time eating at the table, or playing pool.

im actually thinking a pool one may make more sense as it could also double as a board game table but with pockets

Interesting, the Knighbridge model looks a bit neater than that AI generated thanksgiving pool table with free cyber Monday jumpers.

Shame you can't buy one of those pool tables with a gaming top and a dining table top. In my opinion the cheaper ones look too much like a pool table, not my cup of tea but hey, I'm not the one buying.....but if I was, the Knightsbridge one doesn't look out of place at all.

Surely the best option would be to go to Liberty Games and try them in person? If I was potentially dropping £5k+ on one I'd want to try it out first, seems there are showrooms in both Surrey and Coventry.

when I first bought the house I used to go around the local antique centres and they had snooker tables, nice looking old style oak ones that doubled as dining table with wood top that went over them, If i'd had the space I would have bought one

We had when younger a snooker table that you put on top of the dining table, again wasn't much room due to walls etc so we had a sawn off shotcue for those limited space side shots

Loads on ebay, I'd never buy anything new and loose loads of money

I basically lived in a pub
Best friends parents pub

We had snooker room upstairs with 1 street fighter World warrior cab too!

To our selves after 11 o’clock every night ;)

Pub was a turburculoses hospital first then a hotel , then a public house .

His parents lived across the road and left the pub every night,

We played killer mostly.
As would normally be around 6 or more of us

Table was tournament spec.
It was a snooker club in the day
Table was immaculate.

Cues / score board / swan knecks / spiders / crabs all the funny little speacial extra parts that are allowed in world snooker was in the set!
It was classy too .. room had all oak panelling …. Mirrors with all alchole / cigarette advertimemts from back on the day .

I didn't realise these were a thing, I honestly thought they were in the realms of those all-in-one arcade machines that have been built into coffee tables etc.

I stand corrected, some are pretty smart and don't just look like a snooker table with a lid on it. Some are still crap though, especially the ones where you can see the pockets and it looks like you sitting at a snooker table.

Proper Riley ones too, pretty sure I saw Riley ones at the antique shops, had massive one in Leicester and that's only reason I knew about them

If you hadn't seen them before, I can see why you might think it's some other odd ball thing someone came up with like fitting screens into a coffee table and calling it a cocktail table arcade

Some have rise function it seems too so it's low enough to eat at and tall enough to play at, agree on ones you can see pockets still, looks a bit naff that, might not be so bad if you have a proper old looking big dining room but not if it's like other end of lounge, some decent ones though for sure

why does that one have a pocket missing?

i've just read the description, never mind

some of the slate bed ones look great, bit pricey but a proper oak table isnt going to be cheap
