I've just started playing DK in the last couple of weeks. A bit stuck on 3rd elevator screen. Think I've got that sussed though. Hoping for a100k soon.tb lilley2013-12-19 11:45:57

It's a hard old game chaps, random elements really screw you around and each game is always different.

Current score 442,800 but I'm hoping Christmas will be changing that as I've not really had much of a chance to play over the last 6 months.

88th is great Ol, 28th would be a lot nicer!

3rd elevators is nasty James but once it's sussed you're there. Spring length is key, when to run/retreat but it sounds like you already know that.

Cheers Al - yeah, there's been a lot published on how to tackle 3rd elevators. Putting into practise is another thing though. Was on the top girder last night. Lurking just above the right hand side elevator. The correct spring comes along but rather than wait for it to bounce over my head I made an immediate dash for it. Splat!

I played very little of this BITD as it just wasn't around. Think it appeared briefly in a local pub late 80s, but I never managed to progress past 1st elevators.

There's much more depth to it than I thought. Ability to control the barrels is a revalation and adds a huge amount to the game. I've still not settled on a prefered approach to rivets or pie factory. 3rd Elevators there's pretty much only 1 way to do. Barrel screens are where I think the real challenges will lie over next few weeks.

It's great you're into it James. We need to keep the Donkey Kong high score thread on here updated so we can all have a ding dong.

Like you said there's a lot going on, the Barrels is where the game gets going and the points available are huge. Let's not talk about the pie factory or i'll need to go and lie down!!

Do the 'weave' on the rivets and jump on Kong's foot for max points.
Always try and go up the right hand side on the pie factory, unless a fireball comes over to ruin your day on the right hand side, then just do it any way you can!
