Isn't this some subscription only thing that has to be online to play a game? Do something naughty, they brick it? When they stop maintaining the servers, it's useless?

All from their paranoia regarding piracy, despite Space Fever... or have I got it all wrong?

Just to add, Sales data in France has come out and it is their fastest selling system of all time, beating the PS5 by 93,000 units. 200,000 to 107,000. Not saying that translates to long lasting success, but I think it puts to bed the idea that it would flop and people would boycott over the price.

I’ve downloaded ridge racer for my old switch, so it’s just that then? I would buy a switch 2 for a new ridge racer game but nothing else really takes my fancy

i think this has been a giant sell out of the gates, they have made it available almost everywhere, and i'm hearing it has done giant numbers

but the thing with making a console mass available on day one is, there is no demand for it after that, i imagine 95% of people who wanted this, already have one, because it was so easy to get

I am sure it's amazing and everything, but if the SWITCH 2 dock is not going to have an e-GPU to bump it to 4K 60fps (without any fake nonsense) it's ... erm ... well ... I'm just a tiny (honestly, only a little bit) bit underwhelmed.

Like, they could probably charge the same again for the dock if it had decent enough specs ... but it wouldn't really need them to reach 4K 60fps.

I just heard that MKW was topping out at 1440p 60fps and am wondering ... well ... that's not a generational uplift, really ... the SWITCH has been around for a LONG time in console terms ... perhaps even in handheld console terms ... but I dunno about that ... tbf.

Oh, yeah ... and they're putting voice (and limited video) chat behind a paywall if you don't buy the initial model or something ... so ... yeah ... that's a 'no' from me.

The dock could be upgraded later down the line to give more power, and you dont get free chat with Xbox or PlayStation, they all need a sub in some way, but the main point is, Nintendo don't need to make the most powerful system, it's the quality of their games that counts.

Lets see if its a Wii U in a couple of years !!

I’ve just checked the ninty site for upcoming games and am very underwhelmed, seems like almost all are just updates to existing stuff. Apart from Mario kart there seems not really to be anything to make me buy the system at all.
Will be interesting to see if sales drop off a cliff once all the initial hype dies down.

There was often a uniqueness to their systems too. I guess that's still the case here, it's just a variation on what they did last time around.

Anyway on a comment above, I've no desire to see them fail, I do what little gaming I do on a 4 year old laptop, and this is actually the console I'd be most interested in. Just need to see what happens with the games, as it's a meh, right now.

I wish Treasure were still active. They made games worth buying a system for.

No, there's not a lot of Switch 2 exclusive stuff around yet, but it's very early days. I'm really liking Fast Fusion, which seems to have gone under the radar, for some reason. Maybe because it's a blatant WipeOut knock-off, but the fusing of ships to make better ones adds a neat twist. It's cheap, too.

Yeah ... like ... it's Nintendo ... I'm not expecting Forza light glinting ... so bring the polies down, and up the speed ... and 4K that bastardinho ... there's nothing worse than upscaling however it's scaled ... or AI frames ... 😤
I'm still very disappointed that it isn't capable of 120fps, seems a bit silly now that I think about it but I assumed it would be from the announcement direct.

The race to the bottom is fucking horrendous, IMO.

To be fair, PS5 was stock limited compared to the S2.
