Probably wrong but I reckon there’ll be plenty of availability for this over the next few weeks. The nature of it being a dressed up upgrade on an already hugely successful system makes me think it’ll be seen much like the Wii U. Probably do a bit better than that but still…

As a lover of physical media, this key on a card thing has stopped me buying the system really. The thought potentially not having full ownership of a physical cartridge on a technicality bothers me.

Probably will get one eventually when more is known about future hard copy releases.

I'm pretty sure the new game key card things can be sold on like regular carts, if you want to.

Must admit I much prefer downloads on Switch as it's so much more convenient to play.

They can be sold on but you don’t own the game data. It’s only accessed by you using the key. This means that there’s always a possibility for whatever reason that you may not own that game in perpetuity. Doesn’t sit well with me as a retro gamer.

Also digital makes no sense to me unless you’re getting the game at a massive discount on the physical copy or there is literally no other way to play a game than digital.

Yeah, I've nothing against digital itself. There are pros and cons. It's just at the usual price it's an absolutely terrible TCO proposition compared to the value of physical.

They'll be balancing supply. They don't want piles left unsold, but there have been plenty of opportunities to buy without the instant sellouts of next-big-thing scalpable products.

I preordered from Argos 12 hours after it was posted in HUKD. It's been available plenty since.

I'm not saying it'll be a disaster, it just isn't as must-have as say the PS5 or the Wii - which had their balls scalped off.

Pre-ordered delivered to my parents house will get it later. I was crazy excited about the first Switch, but to be honest I kinda forgot about this one. The world is different place now and I am older so it seems all the talk is about tariffs and pricing. But Nintendo is Nintendo and you know there will be a ton of good stuff on it. Likely the last console I buy but this should last me a good decade and it plays all the old games.

I hear there's plenty of spare stock around. Nintendo put some effort in to foil the scalpers.
Yeah there is, I didn’t pre order, wasn’t intending getting one then logged onto Argos site and bought the Mario kart world version. Ended up getting a controller as well.

Fast Fusion looks decent so will end up buying that. Just bought Ridge Racer which is over priced but I’m a big RR fan.

Yeah bought Fast Fusion as it looks good. Will probably get Ridge Racer as well. I previously bought the 2 main Switch 1 Zelda games but never really played them, so I got the Switch 2 upgrade packs, so I can never really play them as well!

I completed the 1st Zelda on switch but 2nd one didn’t grab me at all. Might have another crack at it, not sure yet.

Just finished all 50cc on MKW. It’s lush. Hoping to get my wheel working with it tomorrow.

Just so much money compared to Xbox and Ps5 just cant really justify it. Will try and grab an olderoled modded switch when they swarm the market :)

i have to laugh at the "Nintendo foiled the scalpers" comments

the fact is, this one will be a slow burner, if it's even that, i was in day one on the original switch, this one, i have ways to play 75% of the games they are releasing for it

plus Mario Kart looks absolute dogshit compared to the one on the Switch(gameplay, not graphics, but you wont mind, Nintendo fans dont care about graphics)

the reason there is stock everywhere, is very few people give a shit about it, oh, its showing up in your social media feeds, that isnt an algorithm working, it must just be everyone wants one.....

this is the first console of this generation that i have absolutely no desire to own in the slightest, its a handheld that is too big too play handheld, the battery will be shit, you have to pay an extra £70 to get a half decent controller and the games look subpar at best

i have no doubt though that there will be a lot of Nintendo fans going wild over this console, but its kind of like that for every console, you have the hardcore base of fans who would like it if they released a turd with a D-pad on it, which they kind of havent because they have gone for that button thing again, which is the shittest decision ever

So, to sum up, it's shit, then. Ok, moving on...
absolutely not what i said

its old tech dressed up in Nintendo clothes, and its expensive old tech at that

it will run Nintendo games perfect, and that will be the reason most people buy it, because they like Nintendo games. but as a gaming machine, its pretty poor and them showing games that are 2+ years old running smoothly on it...well, that is Nintendo for you

i think they actually showed RDR2 running on perfectly, the game is 7 years old, i could probably run it on my toenail
