Hi there Darren
Firstly I am glad to see a moderator has removed your address details from the post - it’s amazing how many sharks may be circling when you post the sad information that you are seriously unwell
I am sure members on here that you have been close to in the past will private message you and you to them too if required?
Try to keep a level head and take time to think what you require before leaping too quickly with decisions ( tho I don’t know how serious your serious is?)
I have been in this position from various directions myself and it’s awkward knowing when to sort stuff and it depends highly on precise timing and circumstances ..
In my case I had two major partners one of whom died in 2010 - and ran the main business depot and we operated more than 5 seperate businesses under his umbrella and it involved over 1000 machines and on going sales and service contracts. His wife wanted to downsize the high rent unit we occupied quick as we could so had limited time on hand… hopefully you don’t have this hurdle ? Much stuff just had to be skipped sadly but we were used to disposing of many aged and casualty pieces and our local recycling centre was 2 miles up the same road we were situated on ….. However once the machines were advertised we got flooded with enquiries , sometimes unwelcome ? From bargain hunters and serious collectors alike , but the serious ones just wanted to be first refusal in all fairness but some pester and pester …… but the job got done and tons of good stuff did get virtually given away , One jammaplus guy who I won’t name got a Luton van load of about 50-60 monitors for around £100 the lot and got a couple of dragons lair discs for free from the misc stuff we had put out for skips etc .. he did buy a couple of machines too for decent money so deserved a bonus .. not seen or heard of him tho for many years so he may no longer be with us now?
My partners son took over but was not that engaged with many of the products just fruits/jukeboxes which was his main operation in pubs across the area , so the pooltables and arcade machines was on my head mainly.
It’s tough and can add stress to your other problems …
2018 my other associate partner died too but his son was keen to just carry on , just selling off his arcade premises,
Then 2021 I suffered a heart attack myself and had a triple bypass graft. My wife had always been concerned how she would cope in the same situation? I must say I’ve been a bit complacent since and haven’t yet sorted out my own collections value or even shortened the delay on several repairs from pure laziness ! It’s a difficult time when illness stops you in your tracks , I have subsequently retired from the business so just personal stuff here now.
But… happily I feel quite recovered now and approaching 72 I still feel like this year (better health continuing) I will continue to sort out a few repairs renovations and restorations albeit hard to lift the heavier stuff …. I hope it motivates me to be forward looking in my hobby interest side of the amusements I have loved for 5 decades.
It’s been a morbid morning today with your post and the Gout one too from Vorbis .. either we are all getting old together or suffer winter time SAD making us feel worse but I and the wife hope you recover and get well again soon Darren ,, illness happens as does old age we can’t always reverse things but hoping all goes ok ?
