and log all of your movements at all times. Apart from the obvious
infringement of personal privacy one wonders how long it would take them to
get it approved to automatically issue speeding tickets.
I suggest we already have a 'pay per mile' system in place in the form of
_fuel tax_ where the amount you pay is obviously dependent on the distance
you drive and the efficiency of your car. According to Wikipedia this is
what we already pay:
As of 2005 fuel duty in the United Kingdom is:
a.. 47.1 pence per litre for ultra-low sulphur unleaded petrol/diesel
b.. 50.9 pence per litre for conventional unleaded petrol
c.. 53.27 pence per litre for conventional diesel
d.. 27.1 pence per litre for biodiesel and bioethanol (to encourage
conversion)
e.. Zero VAT and duty, for jet fuel used for international aviation
Note: in the UK, Value Added Tax (VAT), currently at 17.5%, is also charged
on the price of the fuel and on the duty.
Not to mention road tax.
