Good lord - £941? That's a hell of a lot - even if it's a worker!

Yup about 3 times as much as it is worth imo

Clearly someone wanted it pretty badly, or has more money than sense

So now we must wait patiently to see if the new owner presents themselves.

I would have gone to check it if my car hadn't packed up this week GrrRRRrr. Got it back yesterday though and it's working again (for now).

Harsh man. An iconic game of the 80's, certainly in the arcades that I hung out at. One of my favourites, probably because it's the only game I'm fairly good at

I agree its iconic, looks great. I just really hate the game

If I'd won the cab it'd be turned into a permanent Champ Sprint

You could maybe, somehow, possibly, in some way, conceivably, perhaps justify £941 if it was absolutely mint and fully working, but it isn't

Looks like im never gonna get one of these then,

as said above working paperboy with working med res and champ sprint full set up imo with the rarity is do-able

however(possibly), broken med res monitor, broken PB and CS Board = world of pain!

I kinda like Paperboy, it has a certain charm to it, though it not something I'd go out and buy, especially at over £900.
Cave boards though..?

Paperboy is a pretty good game, in fact I'll go out on a limb here and say all of the Atari system 2 (and 1) games are pretty good. However, my Paperboy has always been unreliable compared to the other system 2 stuff I have had but I think I am getting the hang of repairing it now. I'd be interested to know who bought it.

While Paperboy IS on my list of machines to acquire for everyone to play at mine, £941 is loony bin value.

The thing is, now, the buyer is going to go so far underground as we'll likely ridicule the price a bit in fun that its unlikely to surface.

I wouldn't think that any more than £600 for a fully working one and the monitor would have to be in good condition as these are near impossible to get 19" medium res tubes.

I have a deal to potentially exhibit one if I can find a reliable monitor rather than modifying the cab to take a 25" polo2 or equivalent.

I never really understand this mentality. If you were prepared to pay more then why didn't you just bid that on the auction and be done with it? I never got the point of waiting to the last second to put your max bid on anyway? Just do it, and if someone really want's to pay more than you're prepared to then good luck to them...

A *Really* nice working Paperboy would top out at £650 in my book; that this one had a (partial) Champ Sprint kit with it likely pushed it up but still too expensive for what it was. Each to their own. I struggle with System 2 stuff; I've had boards repaired that haven't lasted a couple of hours. It's so hard to keep running imo. Jodo2013-06-03 13:34:33
