[ukvac] OT: Anyone got an AIBO?
Don't ask how I came by one because it was a rather embarrassing accident!
) But anyways, I'm having trouble with my AIBO understanding what I say,
has anyone else on the list got one and wouldn't mind me asking a couple of
questions?

Ta )

PS. It's the newer one, the ERS7 with Mind 2 (in pearlescent black!)

RE: [ukvac] Re: OT: Anyone got an AIBO?
Yikes!) Don't think I came by it for free or anything!!!

Well... *cough* /blush I was erm, looking at one on eBay and I asked the
missus where they usually sell for. She said £900 and the one I was looking
at was around £800 or something. I erm, *cough again* thought I'd 'test'
the water and put in a bid which was possibly slightly higher than a test
bid should have been ) And so I won it!!! It is fab, but yep - pretty
expensive!

Still after doing nothing much all week at work I've had a pretty good day
today by betting against what I usually think! :eek:P Funny how it goes
sometimes innit?!!!

Re: [ukvac] OT: Anyone got an AIBO?
Paul,

I have had an ERS-210 for some time and the voice recognition is generally pretty good even with my slight Essex accent. He sometimes has a bit of difficulty hearing over the noise of the servo motors but accent is not an issue.

Take a look at http://www.aibohack.com/ to see what utilities are available. I use one called Aiboscope which among other features allows you to view what voice commands are being picked up. Maybe yours is just being stubborn.

If you are still using the personality left to you by the previous owner you might want to try resetting back to baby stage and seeing how you get on. Another point, maybe a pretty obvious one, if you have the Japanese version of the software you'll have to speak in Japanese.

Cliff.

Have you tried letting it communicate with your real dog?

It might get on better with it than you.

Just a thought...
