Thanks for the info Lee.

Do the Americans have to pay sales tax when they buy and sell on Ebay?

I really don't like this new VAT rule.

In alot of cases with arcade boards is the fact they are 2nd hand.
VAT does not get charged on 2nd hand goods anyway.

AARGH!

you're not paying VAT on the hammer price of the goods, you're paying VAT on the _Fees_ that ebay charges for providing a VAT-able service.

As a buyer it'll make no difference to you, it's only if you're a seller. (or if the seller tries to fob them off on you!)

Actually this means it's still actually better than a 'real' auction house, as the buyer usually has to pay commission fees too, so the auctioneer and therefore the VATman makes money from both parties. I'm amazed that ebay got away with it for so long.

HELLO??? Is anyone listening to anything that's being said here???

1. Nobody likes that VAT laws. I don't, you don't, nobody does. Get over it
and live with them like everyone else.
2. Okay, correction, I'm sure the chancellor likes them :O)
3. YOU ARE NOT PAYING VAT ON GOODS OF ANY NATURE SECOND HAND OR OTHERWISE -
YOU'RE PAYING VAT ON EBAY'S SERVICE CHARGES.
4. For the average ebay user that doesn't rely on it for hundreds of
transactions per month it's PEANUTS - again, LIVE WITH IT FFS

</RANT ON>

And I ain't even going to go into the Oll/Jim situation!

I do have an opinion, but just as James should have done I'll keep it off
list and to myself.

Thank You and good night.

Guddler.

I used to like QXL until they 'improved' all the listings, now they take too
long to load and ages to locate anything, so I don;t bother looking. (mind
you they could have changed them all again since I last looked - when I
signed up you got a number!)
