Hi Guys,
So I've a nice Point Blank cab coming my way in the next week or so. I was wondering if its possible to get other gun games working on it? Maybe Point Blank 2 or I heard maybe Time Crisis might work with the guns(although no foot pedal on the cab?).

Hope someone can elighten me a bit on this :0)

Hi
Yes PB2 will work but will require some re-wiring as the pinouts are slightly different. I never got round to doing this in my PB1 cab, so I'd also be interested if anyone else has done this and knows of the exact rewiring required.

Thanks, So there is hope :0)

Hopefully it doesnt require too much re-wiring.

PB2 & PB3 are plug and play, no need to hack anything as long as you have the PCB in the cages with filter boards.

I've also had Time crisis running in mine, but not an easy switch over and a PITA.

Hmm, so i might look into picking up a PB2 and/or PB3 pcb. Would be great to get time crisis working on it. How much is involved in that?

That's good news about PB2, I'll give it another try then

Last time I tried PB2 in the PB1 cab, both the Start buttons and gun triggers would not register so I assumed it required a bit of re-wiring, must have just been a dodgy connection!

If you do get it working or have to make any changes to get it running please let me know(by posting here). I dont have a PB2 yet but i dont think its as hard to get as PB3.

This is most likley the small cable that connects from the PCB to the filter on the cage wired up wrong, you cant use a PB1 cage with a PB2 PCB without adapting the cable.

PB1 cage is grey, PB2 cage is goldish, PB3 cage much smaller system 10 & grey (well the ones i've seen are)

So I now have my point blank machine and its awesome :0)
But, it wont save any high scores or even ask me for my initials?! After every game(in free play or on coin) it seems to sort of reset/reboot quickly. It's only when i finish a game, it doesnt reset during a game no matter how long i play, its only when i run out of lives and the game finishes it does it. There is a tiny click sound and it seems to reload the game.

I've also gone into service mode and re-initialised the high scores hoping that might help.

Anyone any ideas? I'd really like it to save my scores.

This is the machine by the way:

The clicky reset is normal on PB cabs when you have free play enabled, are you sure it does it when on coin up ?

Basically when on freeplay it starts the intro and then the game adds an artificial credit kinda and hence boots you straight to the game select screen and skips the intro PB2 & 3 do exactly the same.

As for the high scores, even if the battery backup is dead (I'll come to this shortly) it should still allow you to enter a initials if it doesn't go into test menu and reset the high score table as it might be corrupted, I've had a few sets like this and a reset of the table sorts it out.

Now as for the saving, I really need to dig out a PCB and take a look but there is a power cap ( is that what they are called) somewhere on the board, I think it's the largest blue cap on the board to the right of the edge connector if memory serves me, when this craps out your HS won't save, again once replaced you have to reset the table in the test menu.
Now don't get too excited as it is only really designed to save the scores over night so I think it works for about 2or 3 days max, a bit like the Naomi DIMM battery, it's only meant to last a short while as most cabs in an arcade are booted up daily and thus it recharges the cap to keep the scores.

Point Blank 1 only saves the stage high scores, it doesn't save the total game high scores after power down. This was changed for the rest of the series.
You have to clear the game to get on the score table too.

Thanks for the advice folks. I managed to get it to allow me to input my initials. I assumed it would save a high score even if i didn't complete a full stage

But it won't save the high scores, even if i don't power down the scores are lost.

Oh well :0/
