I've recently put an Outrun Mini back together from a big pile of parts parts. Everything seems to be working ok, apart from an issue when playing the game, and I'm hoping you experts can point me in the right direction

If I push the accelerator pedal the car accelerators as expected, but if I fully push the accelerator pedal down to the floor the car begins to decrease in speed

The same seems to be happening with the brake.

Any ideas?

As mentioned, sounds like your pots are aligned incorrectly on the pedals, when your putting your foot right down you are passing the maximum value back to the minimum, basically turning full circle rather than stopping at the max value.

I had this on mine, when I got it,and it was indeed down to the pots being out of range of the pedal limits(if that makes sense),it's a case of lots of fiddling with the pot mounting nut until you get it right,or it was in my case anyhow

It's normal for the brake that the car decreases it's speed

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Just measure the voltage between gnd and center pin of the potmeters. It should go up when you press the pedal. If not, it can be a broken potmeter or one that needs adjustment. Not all potmeters can freely rotate 360 degrees. Some only rotate approx 270 degrees.

Remove the pot with its frame and test its range with multimeter. Then ifnok and you need adjustments just turn the pit to desired reading then reattach to the cab.

Nice and easy.
Job done.

If the pots faulty you need another which I think are 5k. Good replacements will be around £20 if you can find them. Don’t buy cheap £2 off eBay. I tried that and a complete waste of time and £2.

Cheers guys. It was indeed the pots exceeding their limits. I untightend the frames and moved the pots so they were not exceeding their limits and it works fine now
